Yep for the umpteenth time they are going to have to can a coach mid season and try to get someone in here to try and get them to play right. Always the coach with these guys.I have been listening to the radio feed. Ol 29er was speechless. I think Sully is gone at the break.
I also think that Sid tries to change the game. He doesn't like the violence of the game, I get it. But that is the game in a large way. Also, I think based on him (I may be wrong), he loves the "pass until the opportunity is there" game. Often the opportunities come from a shot breaking up the defensive set, and the unstructured scramble after that.Yep for the umpteenth time they are going to have to can a coach mid season and try to get someone in here to try and get them to play right. I remember something that Tyler Kennedy or someone said on the Fan awhile back after these guys went on that road game stretch where they won 5. Something to the effect that when they play structured like Sully wants they win, but the big 3 don't like to play that way.
Even if they do, this team isn't good enough to do squat in the playoffs. Probably won't even make them again.
Sid is a grinder. I won’t question his physicality. He shouldn’t have to resort to that type of play, but none of his teammates answer the bell when they get pushed around. Every “tough” guy we’ve had is because Sullivan doesn’t like them. I like Sully. His time was needed in 2015-2017. But he ruined any mojo the team had in 2018.It's not just Sid. Sullivan doesn't want to play that way either.
Can't really fault Sid the way he has been playing, but I think he lacks the vocal leadership to get these guys going when they are *** dragging. It's been this way for years. When have you ever seen him get on anyone other than the Refs? Sullivan can only fly off the handle in the locker room so many times and it falls on deaf ears too. Same thing with the other coaches. I think Sid is a lead by example guy. Only goes so far unfortunately.
That was the most pathetic performance I have seen out of them all year. After 6 days rest and losing the game in the 3rd the way they did in Vegas.
I have felt for a couple years now they should have broken the big 3 up and moved on. Geno is only good for a handful of games each year, and the rest he is garbage.
I don't fault him for that goal last night, Letang shouldn't have pulled that no look crap back at the empty net.
Will be interesting to see what the Dubas does, if anything, with respect to some of the deadwood on this team leading up to the trade deadline. This team is a mess. Sully is gone at the break.
That’s if Dubas loses confidence in him. Dubas seems to like Sully. This team is a mess. Sully is gone at the break.
My son got me tickets to the game for Christmas. What a game! The sid play to Jake happened right in front of us and the place went Ballistic!!
I'll take it.
I couldn't agree more. My real concern is that when Sid is gone, can he really be the man. He is a GREAT Robin, but doubting he is Batman. Sid is. This situation reminds me of Gretzky and Luc Robetie ( I don't know how to spell that). After Gretzky retired, what happened to Luc?That play Sid made to Jake last night is why I say anyone that thinks they should deal Guentzel is crazy.
Him and Sid are wired at the hip. Have been since day one.
Nobody that takes his place will work as well with Sid.
He bounced around (including Pens), but he remained a fairly decent goal scorer from what I recall...I couldn't agree more. My real concern is that when Sid is gone, can he really be the man. I agree, but not what he was.He bounced around (including Pens), but he remained a fairly decent goal scorer from what I recall...
True---he averaged 25 goals per year until he retired after leaving the Kings..I agree, but not what he was.
I agree, so it begs the question - is he the guy to build a team around. He will be asking for that money.True---he averaged 25 goals per year until he retired after leaving the Kings..
Still---not too shabby and I can see that happening with Gentzel post SId..,or if he is traded.
We missed the playoffs with him..we can miss thr playoffs without him…I agree, so it begs the question - is he the guy to build a team around. He will be asking for that money.
I keep coming to similar conclusions, which leads me to think a trade is a great idea. I don't like it, but it makes sense. We missed the playoffs with him..we can miss thr playoffs without him…
I agree about Guentzel. They have tried a million guys with Sid and Jake is by far the best. Sid is a very physical 2-way player so I do not think he shies away from the violence. He does look to pass too much. I think he would benefit from being more selfishThat play Sid made to Jake last night is why I say anyone that thinks they should deal Guentzel is crazy.

Jake has a lot of leverage in the situation and he would be a moron to take the initial offer. Sid will pull for Jake and the Pens will get a deal done. Dubas might regain leverage if he brings in a top forward, which is desperately needed as scoring and the PP is atrocious...but we shall see.Do you think Jake is just angling to leave, or he really wants a career here? Big offer to turn down.
