Penguins 23-24

They bustin' *** to save Sully's?

I think things are just clicking. Playing much better defense. They are making it harder for teams to move the puck through the middle of the ice. They can get a lead and hold it now. Unlike what we have seen most of the year. Oh ya and Ned playing lights out helps too.

Agreed, but defense is still not what it needs to be to win much in the playoffs

I agree DJ this is not a team that can hang with the Bostons, Rangers, Avalanches etc of the NHL in a 7 game series but hockey is weird. Teams get hot and cold. Look at what the Pens are doing and look what is happening to the Caps and Flyers. The Caps and Flyers imploding is the main reason we are even in this position.

Everyone ahead of them lost last night so if they win today, they are in the playoff spot. I think. Unbelievable.

Today is a pretty tall task though. The Lightning are hot too.

Turned the game on it was 4-1 Pens. Now 4-4 with 8:30 to go.

Tampa’s speed is evident. Pens are struggling to skate with them here in the 3rd. But they have the lead, and that is enough for now.

Petterson with puck over glass. 6 on 4 with an empty net. Ooooof.

Made it back in time to see TBL tie it up. That was a hell of an ending. Let's go Pens!

We've climbed up to the point where if we win out we are in, right?

I almost liked the 3rd period most. I admit I had had afew by then.

However most impressive thing I remember is Sid's in between the legs almost 90* slap no look shot on goal....I know it was just off but dang!

Geno shoulda had a hat trick

Ned is playing like a grizzled veteran. Smart move there at the end to shuffle the puck to the corner and let time elapse. Bunting turned out to be an excellent pickup. Just what the Pens needed once they found the right line for him. Geno has woken up too.

Bunting is catching on. I like his motor and grittiness

watching the Preds/Isles now on ESPN plus...
Didnt even know I have this channel lol....

Preds down 1 in 3rd....

Pens need to stay aggressive in the 3rd. They go to prevent when they build a lead.
I will say the last 2 games I watched vs the caps and lightning the Pens have done a killer job controlling neutral ice. They need to keep it up

Couple of things standing out to me down the stretch:

1) St. Ivany + Shea are much better than Ruhwedel + Graves. Especially St. Ivany -- he's infinitely greater than Graves. It's hard to believe one is in his second year of professional hockey, and the other is a six-year NHL veteran. Their games are like night and day.
2) Malkin is playing better with a guy willing to go to the front of the net, and Bunting provides that. And when Geno plays with passion, he is still elite and incredibly entertaining.
3) O'Connor has enough speed, skill, and tenacity to be a very good top-6 forward in the very near future, if not right now.

I was out of town for 10 days, just got caught up with all of the Penguins' recent wins. It was totally unexpected...and it's been fun to watch. I said earlier in the season that I thought Ned was better than Jarry. There's no denying that anymore. I hope they make the playoffs, and the Flyers stay home.
