Penn State makes another college coach rich!

Mikey T would look good in blue and white.
Come on Nittany Lions, make this happen.
Then get the lions back on the Pitt Panthers schedule. That would be a fun game every year.
 
Does Penn State keep striking out or is there guy still out there and they are just waiting to announce?

Optics say the search has been a clown show, but if they get their guy in the end it won't matter.

I'd also love to see the new money coaches earned because of the Penn State job. It has to be an absurd amount.

Pat Kraft either screwed it up, or their actual target has always been a HC that is still in the thick of things.

However, all the names floated around were from unverified sources mostly. So we have no idea if they even pursued any of them.

Personally, I think he screwed up.

Isn't it basically down to DeBoer for a HC still in it? Although that hasn't stopped any other coach in playoff contention from taking a new job.

Any college coach would be dumb not to jump to the pros if given an offer... the pay is typically 1.5 times better than an equivalent college program and if you fail its usually easy to move back to college... the best paid college coaches earn what Ben Johnson got to go to the bears this year
 
Penn state may take a minute to really replace the HC position

If the right guy isnt available just run with an extended interim guy next year till the right guy is there. Dont rush it

no, Kraft fubared this whole thing brother. The Mormon church stepped up at the Zero hour to keep the BYU coach there. The minute a program sees their head coach as a "candidate", there is Stoopid money thrown about them. This is embarrassing to watch as a PSU fan.

Which is why I said I think he screwed it up. It’s going to cost him his job and it should. At this point, aside from DeBoer, there isn’t another HC “available” for Penn State to pick off. You’ll know for sure when the BOT starts talking. Nothing from them yet, which I find curious. I mean, this is the one thing Kraft absolutely HAD to get right. This is the one thing he couldn’t mess up. And it looks like he did. Epically bad.

I read an article at lunch time that said the PSU administration is getting involved now. Not sure in what capacity, but it seems obvious they are unhappy. I guess we’ll see. I take everything I’ve read with a grain of salt since absolutely none of it is coming from anyone at Penn State.

Regardless, this **** is embarrassing. It’s a clown show. It’s gonna take years for the university to recover. At least they still have wrestling.

Nah, at least right now money can fix anything in "college" football. They can buy a team in the portal. I use quotes because there is nothing collegiate left in the sport.
 
Penn State is reported to be in on Matt Campbell now. Still only 46 with 14 full seasons as a head coach. After 10 years at Iowa State, he seems to have maxed out his potential with an average record of 7.2-5.5 per season. His best year has been 11-3. Basically, the same results that Pat Narduzzi has at Pitt. With better resources, Campbell should do well at Penn State if he is offered/takes the job.
 
So which is more likely, the Penn State issue with hiring a coach forces them to make an offer for Tomlin or the Penn State issue hiring a coach causes the Steelers to balk at ever replacing Tomlin😂

Thank god for wrestling...outside of hockey it's all I have for sports entertainment. In Cael I trust.
 
Yeah, looks like he’s the guy. Decent hire. He’s done pretty good at Iowa State with far less resources than he’ll have at Penn State. Gotta be able to recruit, and he needs to hit a couple HR’s in the transfer portal. Guess we’ll see.

Campbell in a vacuum was a B to B+ hire, but under the circumstances he is an A graded on a curve just because all their top targets were no longer available

Here's the whole Pat Kraft leaked audio. Somebody may have thought this makes him sound bad but I love what he's saying. It appears to have subtitles by AI that are not always correct. He must be talking to a group of coaches and some players. SOunds like LB Tony Rojas, and i'm guessing DB King Mack who played a year at Bama plus some OL.

Highlights
He calls out Michigan cheating
Says Oregon is soft and the state is full of weirdos
It's a lot of criticism of Franklin, mainly that he paid everyone on the team with NIL paying money to over 100 guys while other programs are only paying maybe 60 guys.
Other teams fine guys $10,000 for missing meetings etc
State College being rural is a major recruiting hurdle. Lots of guys want more action of a city.
Need to play the best players even if they're freshmen, no more loyalty to vets
Need to develop players better
Points out how Terry Smith fixed some of these things in just a few weeks.
Committed to winning a national championship
Says he's getting fired if he messes up this coach hire.
