Pens 25-26 thread

That was ****. They didn't even have a sense of urgency until it was too late.

Geno was the only positive with 2 points. Sid a -1 on the night.

Those third and fourth lines better step up quick.

So disappointed.

Sid hasn’t been a factor since before the Olympic break.

Sloppy play yesterday.
As much as I hate philly, I respected how they came out physical but still played hockey. Testament to Rick Tocchet.

Was a good battle back at the end there. I felt Malkin should’ve taken the shot instead of passing the puck in the final seconds but watching the replay, Mantha had a decent chance to score.

I do expect a better performance game 2. Hopefully they wear their regular home attire this time.

Those gold sweaters are fugly.

Philly looks young, fast, physical, and very well prepared for playoff hockey..

Penguins just the opposite to all of the above

Hopefully, the script reverses Monday night..

We haven't played a game that meant something in two weeks and it showed...
I don’t expect less from a Tocchet coached team. I was too young to remember him as a player, but when he was an assistant HC in Pittsburgh, he could reel in egos and keep them in check.

In hindsight. Sullivan’s trajectory did fall down once Tocchet left.

I was worried when Philly came on at the end of the season and got paired with the Pens. I watched some of their games and you could see they were not going to be an easy opponent. I wasn't actually surprised they won last night. Toc knows what it takes to beat the Pens.

That reminded me of the series awhile back they lost to the Islanders. Play tough defense and wait for the other team to make a mistake. They still can't play the tough playoff style hockey that you need this time of the year unfortunately. Philly made it hard on them every time they tried to move the puck up the ice. Really limited the Pens zone time. Didn't give the Pens any quality shots in front of the net.

Hopefully we see some improvement tomorrow night.

Good morning and happy Sunday ..

Philly plays a defensive game similar to those Devils teams, frustrating. Pens will figure them out move on to the next round.

I thought Sid looked good... He was deep in the pens own end playing D. He was also partially responsible for the goal malkin scored. He kept the puck alive behind the net with 2 guys on him to keep the cycle going.

How was Stu in game one? His stats looked good thru 2 periods.
Did he only have 3 shots in the 3rd?

Sid was a -1 in that game.

If I had to select three stars for the Penguins in that debacle Saturday night, it would be this:
First star Malkin
Second star Skinner
Third star…. Can’t name one… maybe Lizotte?

No one else actually showed up!
And almost looked like they thought all they had to do was hit the ice and the Flyers would cringe and quit, for some reason?

Anyone catch the Bruins Sabres game last night? Boston in control for 2 1/2 periods. Sabres fans booing the team in the first playoff game they have had for 14 years. Sabres score 4 in something like 4 or 5 minutes to win 4-3 lol.

Now everyone in Buffalo is happy again.

I don’t believe that any professional sport is influenced more by momentum, than the game of hockey
