Pickens may finally get it

100% agree. You could say that about 90% of the all time greats, TO, Antonio Brown, long list.
I think its painfully obvious the state of QB play was holding him back. Imagine if he had Mason throwing to him all season? Through 2 games he's on pace for 2700yds.
He has league best potential with an Elite QB IMO. I could be wrong but with the way he can catch and his ability to create yards after catch reminds me of an Antonio Brown. Guy just makes guys miss and gets to open field with great vision and anticipation. I didn't know he had that in his skillset.
Imagine Pickens with a prime Ben? Sky is the limit with this guy. He would be the hottest commodity on the open market after the past 2 performances.

No what has been holding him back was lazy and uninspired route running... he has been called out by so many analysts before that blocking fiasco... when the play wasnt primarily to him, he loitered... which is why he was ignored a lot.. if the play targeted him .. he balls out... but he isnt selling a dummy route to free up DJ or Austin...
we still have a year left for him to really improve before we should probably sell high on him. He isnt a lost cause yet, but him gettting 1200 yards isnt worth it if he costs his teammates 600 yards of offense because he is too focused on himself.

Guy has all the talent in the world, but there is a reason TO, AB and Moss were all dealt... sometimes talent isnt worth it if the talent is dragging down other parts of the team...

Pickens isnt quite there yet.. but he is teetering

Stupid take
Its the QB that was holding him back. Obviously
Stats don't lie

I say it was Pickett and Trubiski not being capable at QB
Yeah because the Steelers have been so much better at WR since AB left right? This team hasn't been fun to watch since the Killer Bee's era.
Tyreek Hill beat his 3 year old kid and attacked a worker at a yacht club. In my eyes the guy is a total piece of ****. BUT
He also is the highest paid WR in the league and leads the league in receiving
The Cheifs are not the same team without him, and he took Miami from the dumpster to having a shot at winning the division.
Mahommes is not the same guy without Hill.
If the talent and production is there you will be compensated accordingly, no matter what.

Amon Ra St Brown was also pissed for not being selected.

Lions should trade him away, right?

The Ravens have crushed all year despite tons of injuries to various positions because tgeir SYSTEM allows for that... the Houston Texans plugged and played a ton of OL guys, as did the Browns... and were fine because of tge system.. CJ Stroud had a higher % of bad passes than any of our QBs, but the scheme allows for so many easy completions that nobody noticed...
Brock purdy was in the running for league MVP despite being so far agead on first read wide open passes that it almost looks broken...

People have to realize that with all the conditioning and training, a the difference between most stars and average players has NEVER been closer... sports science shows this to be fact...

occasionally there is a guy like Ben or Troy, who is extremely unique... but it isnt from physical differences.. so most teams set up schemes that dont rely on an individual superstars unique gifts...

This isnt the 70's anymore... there are hundreds and hundreds of guys in the upper tier of physical ability available to teams... its tge teams that develop guys and run competent systems that win...

The Steelers D is loaded with high end talent and superstars , yet its often failing.

The reason tge WR posion has collapsed lately is because Arians was the last great wr coach we had... Im not sure since Drake died we even have had a competent one.. and our routes absolutely blow because until the post canada regime, we never used tge middle of tge field as anything but a decoy...

There is a reason our red zone offense blows... its scheme... if we cant run it in or get a long score... we are too conservative... all three qbs have yet to throw a red zone interception... thats tge sign of hyper conservative play... you have to challenge coverage in tight... we are taught not to do anything risky... it sucks.

The guy said he was HOT that he didn't get selected, said all those selected ahead of him were great players and then stated the following:

"I guess I didn't do enough during the season," St. Brown said, per Meinke. "I guess I have to go harder."

St. Brown has 112 receptions for 1,371 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games this season.

no Comparison

PICKENS .......... F tthe Probowl

63 rec 1140 yards & 5 TDs

St. Brown had better numbers than a couple of the dudes taken ahead of him and still remains respectful ...... how come the Steelers can't draft this type of locker room cancer

Part of it is the “player’s coach” aspect of the system. No accountability, I mean CONSISTANT accountability.

Salute the nation

The Ravens paid Lamar Jackson 260 million, Mahommes got 450 million
Tyreek hill got 120 million. You think these guys get that money because they are in a good scheme, not because of their physical gifts?? Ridiculous take
You think TJ Watt is pretty close to average but in a good scheme?
If the talent is so close why did Nick Chubbs backup average 4ypc instead of 6.1 like Chubb?? Same shceme
You know why they get record contracts? because they are elite players. You cannot win in the NFL without special players. Thats why they make the big bucks.
You need a good scheme, but its all worthless if you don't have elite high dollar playmakers. You need both
The Steelers would have never won the last 2 superbowls without Big Ben, guys like him are all the difference.

Led by a guy that wants to be their best friend.
Have truer words ever been posted? Shades wants to be everyone's best buddy. That's so cute and all except we need a legit head coach, not a "best buddy forever (BBF). I hope I'm alive when we get a real head coach who doesn't worry about being everyone's BBF and actually fulfills the job of being a head coach.
