Pirate 2026 season thread

Swept by the Braves, and beaten 2 of 3 by Dodgers ... at home. Bucs are pretenders, not contenders.

They're not as good as the Braves or Dodgers, but they might actually have a decent team this year, despite the recent struggles.

The Pirates honestly have the best offense they've had in a long time. They just need the pitching to start performing up to its potential, particularly the starters.

Annnnnnd......
They fall under .500. Turn out the lights, the party's over.

They can definitely hit this year, but the pitching just keeps letting them down.

Mitch Keller is killing them right now. Not just the performance, but the contract as well.

You know, I wouldn't mind Keller struggling if the damn bullpen could have managed to hold half the leads they have blown this year. Do you realize where they would be if that was the case? I know I have watched at least 20 or so games they could have won with even half decent relief pitching.

God its so aggravating to watch a game where they have the lead and you know what is coming.

Like last night. Soto, just one more damn out. One more strike. Nope let's give up a 3 run homer.

Yes, agreed the bullpen is the biggest problem at the moment and has been all year…

Soto is not a closer but he’s got an excellent arm and a devastating curveball….he should not be the closer ….he’s in a bad spot in that role…
And to his defense from last night, although his horrible pitching led to the three run homer, but that guy hit a pitch off the plate about shin high outside over opposite field wall!
Reminded me of a Roberto Clemente type home run.. who was the best bad ball hitter I ever seen!
