Back when I was in high school and college in Pittsburgh in the '70s, my friends and I would joke around about - OK, abott - the Pittsburgh accent and the city's colloquialisms. Most of the people I knew were born and raised there, and still thought it was funny. I thought that was very cool.
But some of our "elders" didn't think it was cool at all. We were considered major jagoffs. And when I'd mention that I was from Oklahoma, and lived in Houston, they would slip into the worst Southern accent you've ever heard.
But now that they're really old, they can laugh about it. I had a hunch they'd come around (!)
