Pivotal Point In The Game: 1st and Goal. Seriously Why is James Harrison In The Game?

Great QB's understand WHEN to throw the ball away, Ben has
never accepted that throwing the ball away is not the end of the day.

Tomlin is a Coach in over his head, and wants to try what other coaches do, even though he has no idea how to do it. The James Harrison plays are case in point. JH is not JJ Watts, Vrabel, or the Fridge.

Yep. That is what makes a QB great. If Ben wasnt Ben we most likely still only have 4 SB. Just saying.

I think way too much is being made of this. I have no problem with play action in close and it has worked several times this year. While it is odd to use Harrison as a lead blocker, I seem to recall seeing him blow someone up on the next play (only to have Blount ignore the block), so maybe it is a good idea. If you are going to use James in lead blocking roles, having him in for a pass play is OK. Ben clearly wasn't looking for him but the first two options were covered. Now, if he isn't supposed to be in because it was a pass, that IS on the coaches. If Ben checked to a pass, that's fine as he has to run what he sees. The issue is that Blount went backwards on the next play. Blount is historically not good in short yardage and has not been this year. By contrast, Bell always gets a few yards even when blocking isn't there. I don't understand why Bellwasn't in. I think he would have run behind James for 7.

I think the zeal to blame the coaches has led to focus on this one issue that it really doesn't deserve. I blame the loss on Tomlin, but more for how they chose to approach the game (and the undeniable history of coming up small against bad teams) not for any one or two play calls.

I would have been fine with play - IF IT WAS A RUNNING PLAY AND Le'veon was behind him...

Unfortunately, that was not the case. Perhaps Ben audibled???

What we have here is failure...to communicate.

Pivotal points were before that. The tipped INT at the goal line and the 3rd and short play where Ben rushed to the line at the end of the 3rd Q only to have Bell snuffed and then Suisham shanked the FG. We need TDs to win games. Don't think we were prepared for the Jets blitz packages at all.

Also have to say Wheaton runs some ****** routes. He turned the wrong way a few times. The running game sucked, we need to be able to run to make the defense respect the passing game.
