Playoffs?

I agree. I gave up on the team prior to last week, i watched the game but had 0 interest. I didn't even have a beer. Even after the dust settled it was like, we've seen this before. That said for the first time all season, I saw something in the that gave me some hope and that was Highsmith's good words he had to say about Rudolph. He seemed genuine.

MR was doing very well up until the Myles Garrett fiasco. That totally derailed him and he also had to deal with concussions etc. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think the team will go as far as he goes and who knows, if it was meant to be then maybe they'll find a way into the playoffs.

The 89 season and Bus' last season are examples of you never know what'll happen so long as the team can win out to end the season. I'd still rather watch a Steeler playoff game that they're totally outmatched in vs watching bowling. So what the hell...
True I always want to see a Steelers playoff game regardless of sometimes painful outcomes.

I believe the Steelers will win their final 2 games but that the necessary losses needed to get into the playoffs don't happen.

There is no guarantee losing both of the next two games would bring change. I am actually leaning in the direction that it wouldn't.
This. I don’t know where Rooney’s current opinion of Tomlin, but I know it has nothing to do with mine and there are reasons both for and against firing Tomlin regardless of what happens the rest of the season.

This team has been rudderless for years now and it hasn't seemed to be much of an issue among ownership and coaching. Firing Canada was an easy thing to do to placate the croaking fans but the other major changes that are needed ( new HC, better attitude, new philosophy, etc) ? Probably not going to happen.
I'm not convinced there will be any changes other than very minor ones which will not fix the problem.
2024 will be much like 2023

The 05 team was 7-2 and looked very good, then lost in OT to Baltimore without Ben, then lost Marvel in Indy, once healthy they were pretty dominant again, and needed 11 wins to just get in, imagine if this team had to get 11 wins just to make it in. That 05 team wasn't just a so-so team that happened to get hot, like alot think, they were pretty dominant until they hit some injuries issues.

Yep, that's exactly what's going to happen.

Making the playoffs won't make any difference at all, we've seen this before. Of course it will produce another Tomlin trophy, so I guess that's something.

However, if you must, Houston and Indy need to lose as much as possible, and the Stillers need to win out.

What's more important at this point, a one and done playoff loss, or 4 spots higher in the draft next year?
The way Piittsburgh has drafted in the first the last few years I'd say 4 spots is negligible.

The necessary losses are two and unless there’s a tie in Texans-Colts game one of them will happen.

That 05 team was probably the best overall Steeler team. Those guys were a special group, were good enough to win the year before as well. That team was far better than any team in the league this year.

I do not think they will beat Seattle out there. They have a horrible track record playing in Seattle.
All depends in Baltimore if the rats need the game. If they don’t need it which I’m betting they won’t since I think they will roll over Dolphins this week, then they rest their starters. Steelers will be fighting to preserve shades non losing streak and will beat a rats team resting their starters.
9-8 here we come. As they would say back in the 50’s and 60’s…. SOS…. Same Ole Steelers.
The grandson will have turned back the clock to replicate what his grandfather legacy was from 1933 to 1969.
Thank God for Dan!
But hay, greatest coach ever! Coach T!

I think any contract extension for Tomlin comes with a new OC chosen by the FO, or at least I hope so
With MT not going anywhere and an extension likely, this is the best that can be hoped for.
Opinions from multiple reads have noted that credible coordinators aren't interested in working for Tomlin, not sure if that's true, but seems to be the consensus.

Well. they have usually been terrible on the West coast but they have already bet the Rams and Raiders this year. Just sayin.

Options include: 1) Tomlin doesn’t want to hire people that would threaten his position, 2) Tomlin just sucks at hiring or 3) folks don’t want to coach for Tomlin. Or some mix of all or some of the foregoing. I tend to think it’s a mix.
I think there is a #4 as well.
Let’s face it...... money talks. While Tomlin is paid a ****-load, are his assistants? If there is a OC out there they truly want they can make an offer he can’t refuse. So #4 might be Rooney.
They play it the cheap, safe way and hire within.

Which you definitely have to give them credit for. Both those teams were having troubles at that point of the season and are definitely better today.
If they beat Seattle in Seattle they will have earned it. I believe it’s a tall order. Seattle’s Defense gives up a lot. Shall be interesting. Those WR’s might do some real damage Tyler Lockett is a beast as well. Not just Metcalf. Plus their rookie.

Averaging 16 ppg won’t get you very far in the playoffs. As usual.

Who else here can’t believe that Mason Rudolph might be our saving grace! I remember 2019 and my father, rest in peace, and I were cheering when Rudolph was benched for Duck! I still think Kenny can be our future leader but we also need to play the hot hand.

I’ll take the one’s that had TEN HOFers on them.

One element of that game that isn't talked about much is turnovers. 17 points off of turnovers will help most QBs cause and sink others.

Rudy played well but he got some help.

ALSO, I think the Bungle defense was ranked 31st in pass defense, that has to help as well.

No ragging on RUDY, but suddenly everyone thinks Coach Tomlin is some kind of genius all of a sudden.

Salute the nation

It's fiction. A fabrication. People are so easily misled.

Who thinks Tomlin is a genius?

They need to win out and get help…obviously. Both those things could happen. Would still need to avoid getting Jesse James’d by The Zebras. That could happen also. Their biggest hurdle though is defeating Cool Shades. And that will be their undoing. **** Mike Tomlin.

I think we win the last two games. It's Unleash Hell time and the Rats rest the starters. Tomlin gets an extension and 2024 we do the same. Yay.
