Wonder if they will sign Dangerfield?

Troy is the big one, the others haven't been around much anyways.

Will Allen steps in. Shamarko probably out as well. Maybe play Cortez at Safety??

I'm not sure how feasible it is for a CB to transition to S mid season, given that most players seem to get acclimated to their respective postions during offseason practices and training camp.

Plus, Allen seems to lack the physicality for safety. He's soft even by CB standards, and NFL TEs and RBs would probably take turns fitting him for skirts playing inside.

Troy was out for the last bit of the gavens game. Who ever was taking his place should be fine against the yets. Shazier gets replaced by Spence who did rather an ok job. Fortunately the team has all week to make those adjustments and to prepare some back ups for the game, instead of them needing to come out of the game in the first quarter with an inadequate supply of replacements.

Do they need to sign a safety? They have Will Allen, Mitchell and Robert Golden healthy. Ross Ventrone is iffy. They might have to cut Ventrone in order to sign Jordan Dangerfield.

These injuries will probably open up a helmet for Daniel McCullers...

The biggest thing we need is for Tomlin, Lebeau and Haley to continue to work their ***** off on game-planning and working on halftime adjustment scenarios. The Jets have Vick as their QB now. While he's nothing like he was, there is a lack of film on him this year which will be a weakness for a defense depleted with injuries. That means Lebeau is going to have to be on his best game.

Meanwhile, the offense needs to stay consistent and build on their success and maintain their momentum. I seriously doubt this game will be a cakewalk. I fully expect the Steelers to "expect" it to be a cakewalk which makes me really really nervous.

I would suspect we won't play nearly as much nickle coverage against the Jets that we have the last couple of weeks (unless we get up by 3 TD's and the Jets have to throw every down).

If C. Allen is held out again, we might need help in the secondary, but we can probably make it as-is for this game.

I'm wondering if they should give Cortez some practice reps at Safety. It may be a better position for him. They need to plan for life without Troy. Mitchell should hold down one spot, but it's hard to count on Shark.

Allen has enough size and has pretty good ball skills. He plays well with a man in front of him but struggles turning and running. Mitchell is a hitter. Cortez might be a Darren Perry type ball hawk if you let him patrol the deep middle.

where's Shamarko ?

another bust?

Blake to S he can
