I posted a story on Facebook last night that got my one lib friend (I actually have a few) sideways. He actually ended up calling me a hateful person. He regularly avoided or deferred when I asked him to substantiate his claims, and contradicted himself or denied saying something, even when what he said was just a post or two above what he said clearly.

This man is a very good man, and I have mad respect for him. This time he was not doing well.

I don't think this type of poor logic is unique to liberals. I find blind allegiance to MAGA just as lame. Logic and consistency is the issue that I am after. Please keep this thread away from supporting one side vs. the other.

So, without this turning into a "foggy" or libs, or Tibs or whatever, are just stupid thinkers thread, what do you think is the root cause of the deep lack of logic many people exhibit when it comes to issues of politics or faith, etc? Admittedly, lousy logic is rampant.

Their Moms dropped them on their heads when they were babies and they have mercury poisoning from eating too much broke-*** tuna salad growing up.

What. Was the story?
I also have a few friends that vote the other way. They are not as radical as the ones you see on TV or the web. No blue hair, no protesting, not doing the no kings March's.

They just want different things than i do. Only true argument we have gotten into was when Trump was shot.

Because they're all about feelings and not logic, economics, and real human behavior.

Most people only want health and financial stability for themselves and their families and we actually have more in common than not.
The problems start with media propaganda from both sides of the political spectrum, although I do agree with Burgundy that the left leans more
on emotion than logic and the right just the opposite.
I've been unfriended on FB by people I've known all my life simply because I have a different point of view. I on the other hand have never unfriended anyone.
Just my opinion but those leaning left only want positive clicks for what they post and no interest in an actual conversation, which in my case, means that I just scroll on by most of the time.

It used to be a common practice to never publicly discuss politics or religion, but here we are.

I have thought that maybe the fact that we didn't discuss religion or politics lead to the problem we have with not being able to discuss politics or religion.

Tribalism basically. Low IQ stuff. People who can’t ever see the other side or are just so blinded by their hatred for it are just lower IQ in my opinion. They will say and do anything to support their POV and ignore anything that refutes it or even asks them to question it.

I've unFriended a few Lefty friends and family just because they can't leave **** alone and turn everything political and you can't have a rational discussion.
I'm sure one of them is blaming the Steelers' loss today on Trump.
Two guys I grew up with, in my class and same church, there's no reasoning with them but they were both career government employees, one state one Federal, and if I'm critical of government waste, fraud, and abuse they call me the Communist.

I unfriend my cousin.
He always post stupid stuff about trump
Then when Kirk was murdered he was making excuses to why it was ok. I had enough.

Two other guys I grew up with (different guys), when Trump was shot in Butler, since I live nearby, if they had said one of them was up on the roof I'd have believed it and not batted an eye. Truly unhinged dudes. I didn't just unFriend them, I had to block them.

We as conservatives breaking ties between friends and even family members is understandable given the reasons mentioned…them becoming unhinged, vile, hateful, etc.

But on the other side it doesn’t need to get to that.

All it takes is the vote.

I’ve read about liberal parents who won’t let their kids see their grandparents after they learned they voted for Trump.
My wife had a co-worker she’s been friends with for at least 10 yrs who stopped taking to her because she voted for Trump.
That was in 2016 and they still don’t talk.

I can’t imagine we as conservatives behave in such way after a friend or family member voted for Biden, Kamala, or Hillary in 2016.
Rolling my eyeballs at my sister who did is about as far as it goes.

One of my best friends from high school unfriended me for voting Trump. Strange.

IDK, I know some pretty intelligent people that in areas other than politics are pretty open minded and sharp. I'm sure an IQ test would prove that.
I had a college friend living on the beach in NC that was ranting about Trump during his first term. I simply suggested a walk on the beach with his dog and deep breaths. That's all it took to lose a friend that I've known for a long time. He was seeking affirmation rather than having me point out that life is too short to consume yourself with things that you can't control.

Those are the type that I just scroll on by because occasionally they have clarity and post something other than political rhetoric, like stuff about their kids, etc.
