Explosive intervention by Pope Francis set to transform climate change debate

The most anticipated papal letter for decades will be published in five languages on Thursday. It will call for an end to the ‘tyrannical’ exploitation of nature by mankind.

Pope Francis will call for an ethical and economic revolution to prevent catastrophic climate change and growing inequality in a letter to the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics on Thursday.

In the letter, which will be sent to the 5,000 Catholic bishops around the world and published in five languages online, the Pope is expected to argue that the world faces ruin without a revolution in hearts and minds.

False prophet..

there, I said it

I'd prefer that the South American Socialist Pope question why so many people want to leave their shithole countries in Mexico and Central America and come to the U.S. illegally.

I kinda like that the guy is far less of a king of Catholics and is about equality and such.

There is a reason why people pretend that church and state are separate. It is part of the grand illusion.

Storm on climate change awaits pope's environment letter

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis will call on all people to be "stewards of creation" and address the hot-button topic of climate change on Thursday in the most feverishly awaited papal encyclical in decades.

By making environmental protection a moral imperative, his intervention could spur the world's 1.2 billion Catholics to lobby policymakers on ecology issues

Isn't promoting birth control, and preventing over population, a means of helping to save the environment?

This is going to be interesting!!!

Wait a minute!!!

I thought that the Pope was god on Earth? Isn't that what we've all been taught and told??? If so, why does he just 'speak this into existence', like God the Father did during creation?

Just poking fun, guys, relax....

There are plenty of responses to the Pope's message Berm, and not all are pretty.

HATE SPEECH AGAINST POPE

“Let the Pope be the first to follow his own advice. The Catholic Church is one of the wealthiest entities on the planet. How about the Church giving its tithe from all its members and redistributing it to the poor instead of filling its coffers. How about the Vatican selling off its billions of dollars worth of art to feed the masses. The Pope should set the example.”

“It is time for the Catholic church to put birth control and condoms in the back of every Catholic church. That is a good start for a ‘God centered’ global economy.”

“Why is the Pope addressing humankind? Doesn’t he have a direct line to God? If he doesn’t, why does he think anyone should listen to what he has to say?”

“Note to pope: Mind your own business and stay out of politics. If you want to help the world, start by quitting the collections during mass, sell your gold chalices and sell your massive display of power–your cathedral–and use the proceeds to help developing countries."

Even the Politicians have a response...

“The Church has gotten it wrong a few times on science, and I think we’re probably better off leaving science to the scientists and focus on what we’re really good on, which is theology and morality. When we get involved with political and controversial scientific theories, then I think the church is probably not as forceful and credible.”............Rick Santorum

"James Inhofe, infamous for tossing a snowball across the Senate floor to demonstrate ‘the greatest hoax ever perpetrated against the American people’, says Pope Francis should ‘stay with his job’ during a pitch to fellow unbelievers". His message – that 'God is still up there' and that Pope Francis should mind his own business – sent a clear signal to his fellow conservatives: climate sceptics have a loyal – and newly powerful – friend in Congress."

Actually, there was more than one: Lamar Smith, the Republican congressman from Texas who heads the Science, Space and Technology Committee, raised cheers from the room when he said he proposed a 40 percent cut in NASA's budget for earth sciences last week.

Looks like the gloves are off and some of the niceties are falling by the wayside. Meanwhile at the G7....

G7 leaders agree to phase out fossil fuel use by end of century

German chancellor Angela Merkel announces commitment to ‘decarbonise global economy’ and end extreme poverty and hunger.

Wow, no way I wanna miss that show. Double popcorn please.

I believe the Pope is God's Emissary on earth - his right hand man

1.2 Billion Catholics will given their marching orders to fight the climate war against the Unbelievers

yea verily

Not sure what the letter will say, but I do believe man is destroying the earth to a certain point. Just take a look at all the plastic / garbage islands floating around in the ocean. The world is very greedy / selfish in general. Unless the pope can change the whole worlds attitude i dont see much happening. As far as global warming I think man plays a small part, but in general I think the climate is cyclical. The problem is there seems to be 2 sides without a middle ground. One one side you have the radicals who speak the doomsday. On the other side you have the people who say they are nuts and global warming is a myth. I think there is some middle ground. We are losing a lot of trees and dumping more "garbage" into the air / water. It has to effect the environment / atmosphere somehow. I dont think that anyone really knows how exactly at this point but I dont think the research should be totally discounted. Right now I think there are too much politics in the science world in general so we may never know the truth.

Even though my town does not require recycling I voluntarily load my cans, bottles, plastic bags, newspapers, cardboard, and used motor oil into my 14 mpg SUV and take them to the recycling center.

I wondering if he gets booed in Philly later this year?

Hey...they did boo Santa!

Draft of Pope’s Climate Change Encyclical Leaked

A draft of Pope Francis’s encyclical on climate change was leaked by Italian magazine L’Espresso on its website.

A Vatican official told Bloomberg that the publication, which broke an embargo set for Thursday, was a “heinous act”. The 192-page document is aimed at influencing the debate ahead of United Nations talks in Paris at the end of the year.

According to the lengthy draft, which was obtained and published by L'Espresso magazine, the Argentinean pope will align himself with the environmental movement and its objectives. While accepting that there may be some natural causes of global warming, the pope will also state that climate change is mostly a man-made problem

He will team with Al Gore to sell the Carbon Credit Rosary. Say two of these and you can drive your Escalade all you want.

Remember when the Popes were all against that Heliocentric solar system? Inquisitions, heretics, etc.....

Thank Galileo!

Global warming is just a hypothesis that has not been proven. Sea and ice levels tend to rise and fall over decades of time. A better study would be on the Sun intensity and how it determines global warming or cooling.

One area that I think the environmentalists are correct is on air pollution. Its very bad in China, as as they industrialize ( People get more cars ) its going to worse. IMO, we are about 10 years away from high tech hybrid cars that use far less burring fossil fuels in comparison to today. The key is are they convenient for all types of lifestyles? ( Big cars with luxury, 60+ miles per gallon, some acceleration and speed ). In time I think they will be.

He will team with the commies to fleece American taxpayers - all part of his plan to destroy capitalism.

Chinese-owned NH solar project costs ratepayers $1.22M

New Hampshire utility ratepayers will pay a Taiwanese company $1.22 million to build the state’s largest solar installation so that a small town can save about $500,000 in power costs over the life of the project.

Taiwan’s Walsin Lihwa, parent company of Borrego Solar, will use Chinese-made solar panels in the 3.5-acre project, which is supposed to be finished in July. It will supply power to several municipal buildings in the area but only some of the time: the town of Peterborough (population: 6,284) gets only 197 sunny days per year.

“What a great project,” deadpanned David Kreutzer, a senior fellow with the Heritage Foundation. “A $1.2 million grant allows Peterborough to save $500,000! And that doesn’t include the cross-subsidies of net metering.”

Net metering requires all other ratepayers to cover the fixed costs of electricity distribution so that solar users have a safety net when the sun doesn’t shine.

In an unusual feature of the deal, Borrego Solar will retain ownership of the system. That allows the company to claim a 30 percent federal tax credit — along with $55,000 in yearly renewable energy credits paid for by local ratepayers.

As for the rest of year, Peterborough will have to buy electricity from conventional sources.

“I’m all for renewable energy, however in the case of this project it looks like others are subsidizing this so it can have a return,” said state House Majority Leader Jack B. Flanagan, a Republican. “Even with the investment, the return is not going to happen for 30 years.”

“Spending $2.6 million for a 1-megawatt system is equivalent to spending $1.3 billion for a 500-megawatt power plant,” said William Yeatman, a senior fellow with the Competitive Enterprise Institute. That’s about three times higher than “the typical coal power plant outfitted with all the latest technology. The only reason this is viable is due to subsidies — taxpayer and ratepayer,” he said.

Here's the intellectual response from the NoBull Newsletter...I read it twice and still didn't get it all but I'm pretty sure they called him a Marxist, but I may be wrong, I am old.

BEWARE THE POPE

Pope Francis has now decided to weigh in on the climate change issue by declaring that climate change dramatically effects poor people more than rich people and that, consequently, climate change is not only settled science but also settled morality.

Though the press and liberal Roman Catholics like to view this Pope as "widely loved and respected", there is little doubt that this man has spent his life as a Marxist. He views capitalism as destructive. He sees that it is the responsibility of every human being to take care of the needy though he tends to say very little about what the responsibilities of the needy are in return. He is using the language of the United Nations Agenda 21 in speaking about things being "unsustainable" and how human beings are ruining the planet. He says little about how humans have helped millions out of poverty and how capitalism has raised the standard of living for untolled millions around the world. He is compromising his moral authority by aligning himself with the Progressive movement and those people who seek to destroy the concept of individuality and personal responsibility and replace it with the concept of collectivism and group responsibility. He is violating the God-given free will of Roman Catholics and millions of others by declaring that failure to accept his personal views regarding climate change is immoral. And he is turning the Roman Catholic church into a tool of political activists. He is dividing his followers, forcing them to choose between the political morality engendered by the will of man and the theological morality engendered by the will of God. He is using his moral authority as a bludgeon to accomplish political ends and it is likely, in the end, to destroy the integrity of yet another major institution, the Roman Catholic church.

What il Papa doesn't get (like most Communists) is that if you start confiscating wealth to "spread it around" then pretty there isn't any wealth left to spread.

He's calling for a global government
