Possible FA moves

Lebanon thinks he is going to get a starting gig at LT somewhere. He already has a spot here. Were just taking the best of the 3 at guard. They all can compete.
But see remember Moore has this issue of being on the right side. Thats why i say move him to Left guard. Seumalu has plenty of experience at right guard. McCormick was never expected to start in 2024 until Daniels got hurt. Daniels isnt expected to be resigned.

I hate to say this about a fellow Aggie but Dan Moore Jr. stinks. I don’t want him here and it seems like he only plays one position, LT and not very well.
Look to FA and sign a solid guard. I wouldn’t be against bringing back James Daniels who played well before his injury.

Not sure if he stinks run blocking pass blocking or both. I know he had issues pass blocking. Need to do more research. I just figured he was decent enought to start LT he could play guard , and hes familiar.

SorrY Bleeder, musical OL hasn’t worked for Coach Tomlin so what makes you think it will suddenly work now…..?

Continuity is what they need to strive for. Transitioning a questionable career LT to gaurd isn’t as easy as it sound. Us fans talk as if it’s a convenience, PLAYERS talk about how hard it is to adjust from one position to another.

Coaching 101,…….. you don’t create a hole by filling a hole. That usually gives you two holes (weaknesses) while trying to solidify a single weakness.

My 15 cents.

Salute the nation

The fact he has started at LT almost his whole career from almost day one means someone will be desperate enough to sign him for more than we will be willing to pay him. Left Tackles are a premium position and despite how we feel about him he has value. Hopefully enough to earn us a comp. I am not saying he is good just saying someone will want him.

I understand. But then im wondering who says "OH yeah, i gotta have Dan more start on our left side, we know he stinks but we dont give a crap about our QB. "

Nor do i forsee someone saying we can pay him as a top swing tackle , when he cant switch to the right side.

You can be right of course. I just dont understand it. Knowing what we know, (you and i), we would be pissed if the steelers brought in Dan moore as our starting LT.

That said. I gaurentee the Personell directors around the league , know what we know.

Lolley and Williamson both expect him to get a nice contract elsewhere. He did improve last year. As @Drink IRON City said continuity is our biggest issue. Hopefully we have Fautanu, Seumalo, Frazier, McCormick and Jones for the entire season. I think they can be a really good line by the end of the season. We need a back that can run Smith's offense and as much as I like Najee he isn't it in a outside zone scheme. We need a big fast homerun hitter. I would be fine with drafting Jeanty if he slips to us.

Whatever back they bring in to pair with Warren, he needs to be a homerun hitter who can take it to the house on any carry. I think back to the speed Fast Willie had. He doesn't need to be a 4.3 (although that would be nice) but a RB weighing 210 (give or take a few) who is quick and has 4.4 long speed would be nice.

Luckily it is a good draft for RB's and D line. Focus on WR, QB and CB in free agency/trade and get the best RB and 2 D Line available early.

A few names for each spot either I would consider or think the team will consider...and some just for fun.

QB
-Justin Fields - if they want a young guy with potential and the ability to run.
-Russell Wilson - if they want the veteran who knows the system.
-Zach Wilson - if they want new project who was a high draft pick.
-Daniel Jones - if they want to tank.
-Aaron Rodgers - if we want to feed the media with stories.

RB
-JK Dobbins - he knows AFC North football. Averaged 4.6 YPC and had 9 TDs last season.
-Nick Chubb - his name has been floated around and I'd at least explore his health--was one of the best prior to the knee injury.
-Rico Dowdle - breakout season last year, he's still young and would be part of a RBC along with a mid-late rounder.

WR
-Chris Godwin - I don't think he'll leave Tampa, but if he does he would be a steady veteran presence for this offense, plus at a possibly lower price due to injuries.
-Keenan Allen - he's older, but is still a chain mover who can find the end zone.
-Darius Slayton - an adequate WR2 who has done okay with a terrible team.

OL
-James Daniels - he's our own UFA, but coming off a major injury he may be affordable and he was pretty good here.

DL
-Milton Williams - he was a name I wanted the Steelers to target in the draft a few years ago and now that he's hitting free agency, maybe the Steelers can get him from the Eagles like they got Javon Hargrave years ago.
-Levi Onwuzurike - young DL with the ability to generate pressure.
-Teair Tart - not a full-time starter in his career, he can carve out a role for the Steelers.
-Calais Campbell - yeah, he's really old but he's still a really good run defender.

CB
-Charvarius Ward - get a top CB to pair with JPJ. I like he has experience playing for a talented SF defense.
-Asante Samuel Jr. - I'm always willing to circle back on players I wanted the Steelers to pick in the draft--here is another one.
-Byron Murphy - see above.
Nate Hobbs - he played under the new DB coach while in Vegas.

I read somewhere that the Bucs are looking to resign Godwin. So I take it as a possible that he might not be available.

Same as Higgins, they are not hitting free agency
