Practice Squad Announced

Again, you're cherry picking facts.

Tomlin's worst record is 8-8, and he's never had a losing season. Bill Cowher went 6-10 TWICE before he won his first SB.

Tomlin is still the youngest HC to win a SB, and the youngest HC with two appearances. And he did so with the same team that Cowher went 8-8 with the year he retired.

And what was last year's record again?

That history says the Steelers are right on track.

Did Cowher have a franchise QB when he went 6-10 and like Tomlin has had his entire career ? 8-8 with a franchise QB is abysmal and NO other team with one has ever missed the playoffs 43% of the time like Ben has done languishing under the "coaching" of the con man.

Did Cowher at any point ever miss the playoffs 43 % of the time like the idiot Tomlin, answer is no.

You mean the year Ben almost killed himself and then had an appendectomy, that 8-8 year along with Cowher finding out his wife had terminal cancer ?

Tomlin is a ****** coach who is bad at personnel evaluations, drafting, in game coaching and adjustments, clock management, etc. He was carried to the Super Bowl by a stacked roster he didn't build a HOF DC and a franchise QB He also had the Steelers come out flat and uninspired against the Packers, a common occurence under the idiot. We have taken on his personna as a team, fat, sloppy , stupid and no attention to detail.

This summer the team looks even worse and less prepared than usual, 8-8 will start looking like the good old days under the con man.

Phillip Rivers isn't a franchise QB? That's news to me.

Funny. Excuses for Cowher, but not for Tomlin. That's what we call a Double Standard.

We did not lose to the Packers because we "came out flat" We lost to the Packers because we lost FOUR out of FIVE of our linemen to injury and couldn't block a swarm of butterflies. In fact, by the time that game was over we'd lost TWO out of THREE defensive linemen. I would love for you to find a team that lose BOTH it's lines to injury and still not only plays in the SB, but is competitive for most of it. You will not find such a team that has won.

Well then it sounds like you should by yourself a Patriots jersey Franco Fairweather.

We cam out flat and unprepsred and fell behind by a ton of points. The same roster you said was why we came out and got way behind somehow got back in the game. Take your Patriot **** and stick it up ur ****.

When has Phillip Rivers ever won anything and was considered a franchise QB . Its telling that you compare Ben to Rivers anda head coach as dumb as Tomlin, Norv Turner, who unlike the useless Tomlin is at least a great coordinator.

IN closing enjoy the medio rity and bad football the Steelers now play under the moron. It will not change unless he is fired, either way he has set the franchise back to the point that we are done winning championships much less division titles after the Cowher players got old and retired.

By the way Rivers makes the playoffs 63% of the time as opposed to Ben's 57% under Tomlin, another Tomlin fail and of course a fail for you.

So put your little hand in mine, there ain't no hill or mountain we can't climb......babe.

Remind me again how many Super Bowls Rivers has been to during the Tomlin years versus Ben. So, what you're saying is that Tomlin with Ben takes his team to the playoffs less often than Rivers makes the playoffs. However, when they do make the playoffs they are more likely to make it to the Super Bowl than teams led by (insert Coach/Coordinator) and Rivers?

So you like not getting to the playoffs then Tomlin is your man. Rivers was not handed a Super Bowl winning yteam with a ton of stars like the idiot Tomlin inherited and has turned into a mediocre team that misses the playoffs 3 of the last 5 years , has not won a playoff game in 4 years, 8-8 is great under the con man, enjoy.

When Rivers took over for Brees in 2006 the Chargers had a roster that was on par with the Steelers. Rivers at QB; Tomlinson at RB; Neal at FB; McCardell and Parker at WR (probably the weakest part of the off.); Gates at TE; McNeil, Dielman, Hardwick, Goff, Olivea at OL. That's just on offense. The D had some pretty good players too. That team finished 14-2 and won the west.
So, I'd say that Rivers DID indeed inherit a team capable of winning a Super Bowl and just has never got it done.

Edit: Here's that 2006 San Diego Roster for ya:

As a side note, the coach of that team was Marty Schottenheimer, erstwhile mentor to one William Laird Cowher (known as "Field Goal Bill" prior to his recent deification)

Whatever dude, yet the Chargers make the playoffs more often than Ben and Tomlin, everything else is bullshit. Winning a Super Bowl when handed a Super Bowl winning team is easy, see Barry Switzer

Chargers make the playoffs more often than the Steelers. However, two of those trips were with 8-8 records that won a weak at the time AFC West. A third was also a division winning 9-7 record. The Chargers of that time did not have a team like the Ravens to battle for the division title as we did. Again, they made the playoffs, but did nothing with that opportunity. While Ben/Tomlin went to two Super Bowls and won one.

By your logic, If it was so easy to win a Super Bowl after winning one recently, then teams like the Saints/Colts should have won more as they returned basically the same key players the year(s) after winning; including the coaches. We know how that turned out don't we?

And seriously, do we need to go into Switzer's record compared to Tomlin's? I mean, if you like, we can make the comparison, but it won't be flattering to your point of view even considering that Switzer won 63% of his games.

I have no idea what any of the above posts have to do with the Practice Squad?

Got off topic ... it happens. My apology.

Such is the nature of the Steeler Nation Forum. Side tracks derails and even outright highjacks are the norm.

You're just an angry fan with unreasonable expectations...

Jarvis, while he wasn't my favorite choice when picked - and everyone knows how upset I was about it; but, he's a Steeler and his ceiling was just too high to pass up. He was thrown into Coach LeBeau's complex defense as a rookie and he'll get a chance to play, in his second year, with the game a bit slower and more knowledge of the system.

I can't explain why Landry is still here, but, I don't get paid by the Rooney's to provide analysis on the subject - so, he's a Steeler too and I just have to accept that.

I suggest you go back and look at Coach Tomlin's record. Idiots don't last long in the NFL.

Did you have these same complaints in the Noll and Cowher eras???

Bermuda, your starting to make sense, enough of that!!!!!!

Hey man, reread as many times as necessary, You just gotta keep up man. :)

Don't apologize, that was a very educating several post(s). Thank you for your time and input.

This is the dumbest ******* thing you have ever said on this board. And you've said some dumb ****. Winning a Super Bowl is NEVER easy. EVER. The Barry Switzer situation wasn't even so......and if not for the Neil O'Donnell meltdown that would have blew up in the Cowboys face. Mike Tomlin got the Steelers back to the Super Bowl in 2010 by the way, during a season when his franchise quarterback was suspended for a quarter of the season. That year was probably his best coaching job yet. You're sitting here trying to prove your point with the ******* choking *** Chargers teams from 2006-2008. Stop. Those teams were LOADED and didn't even make it to the Super Bowl. Norv Turner got there after Marty and didn't make it to the Super Bowl. You're a ******* moron.

You know **** about football and if you love Tomlin then enjoy the next 2 or 3 years of futility. It is easy to win a Super Bowl when you have a franchise QB and the best statistical defense of the modern era, the 2008 Steelers. Even then the moron needed a great play by Harrison to save his bacon. Trying to tell me Switzer is anything but an idiot shows your cpomplete lack of football knowledge Tomlin is an idiot a below average coach and AGAIN not one of his supporters can name ONE thing he does well.

I'm not the one saying he's a fraud

I'm not the one in here calling Tomlin a fraud. You are. The burden of proof is on you. I have reality in my corner. His resume as head coach thus far is pretty damn good. He has done his job man. He was asked to come in and keep a solid veteran team winning. Not anyone could have come in and commanded the respect of a veteran team and taken them where he did. His players respect him. His fellow coaches do as well. His teams rarely get blown out and always play hard. He makes sure these guys keep their pride about them and that they play to the standard. Does he have his flaws. Absolutely. But he's continued to improve as a coach despite the few down years this team has had. Unlike you......I'm excited to see where this team goes in the next few years with the roster all but turned over. How is James Harrison making a great play a knock on Tomlin as a coach? Do you have any idea how ******* dumb that sounds? I suppose Ben's last drive was a knock on him too? Santonio Holmes playing great throughout the entire playoffs and winning SB MVP was all to show how much of a moron Mike Tomlin was. Come back when you have a real argument, or when you live in a world where the Baltimore Ravens have more than 2 SB titles in almost 15 years of dominant defenses, and Peyton Manning has more than one SB title in almost 15 years of being called the best QB in the league. BTW Tom Brady led his team to an undefeated regular season and lost in the SB. His team lost in the SB AGAIN to the same team 4 years later. Drew Brees puts up amazing numbers every year but has only been to and won one SB. Aaron Rodgers has only one SB win.......I'm sure you're familiar with that one. Almost all of these teams have missed the playoff a few times in the last 7 seasons along with their SB wins. Should all these coaches be fired too?

Don Shula and Dan Marino say Hi! So do Marv Levy and Jim Kelly along with Dan Fouts and Don Coryell. Loser head coaches each and every one. You're making this too easy.

as to the original post, I'm kind of surprised that Dan Moll wasn't kept on the practice squad. Anybody know if he was picked up by anyone else?

Shula won 2 Super Bowls without Marino, the Bills were a small finesse team that got destroyed by bigger, better NFC teams.

Again, name one thing Tomlin does well.

Fine and dandy, Tomlin is a bad coach and 8-8 is his cieling now that Cowher's players are mostly goner. Everything else is bullshit.

I see you have nothing to say to that.

That's what I thought. We start throwing some real facts at you and you just turn into Flip Flop Franco. This is your whole argument? Cowher's players are gone and Tomlin is a bad 8-8 coach. I guess we'll see won't we.
