Pressley Harvin update - BOOMIN'!

I didnt realize kickers and punters need time to get acclimated to the NFL. hopefully he is beastmode this year
Some do some don't. All players have that different light on time period. Kickers and punters are no different. Especially a punter that went through family and weight issues.

But like Coolio said let's see it in the games that matter.

He might be overthinking his placement punts during game time when he’s between 40s. That is appearing to be obvious to me. I was watching him at Latrobe just this past Tuesday. He was booming them and doing a good job of placing inside the 20 when he’s between the goal line and 30.

Is this the same guy that had a long of 8.5 yards last year?

Hi Haters!!! Percy was exceptional in the game yesterday.

What team does Percy play for ???

Presley Harvin did a very nice job yesterday,

I wonder if he thinks maybe he has to BIG of a leg, like he might over kick into the endzone. He has to hold back and kind of put some "touch" on the kick instead of opening it up and letting it rip...................

One way would be to kick it higher with all your force but then he would have to work on where he made contact with the ball. The higher off the ground the higher the kick but that's the hard part, deterining the "touch" or the feel of where to make contact as opposed to the height off the ground.

It's like a golf swing, pitch of the club combined with velosity of the head.

He might actually be working on that. Those unfortunate enough to have had to listen to Bucky Brooks on the Jaguars network…he wowed at Harvin’s first punt. He said it was “beautiful”, and commented on how high it was. But that was it. Didn’t mention hang time or even distance.

Yep. Pretty much he’s Happy Gilmore. He just needs to find his own Chubbs

I'm curious why punters no longer go for the coffin corner.

I think statistically the success rate was too low to justify the touchbacks and out of bounds too early. They started going for the long hang time coverage option or that center of the field backspin thing in the early 00’s.

I once read that a lot of coaching philosophy changes these days are predicated on computer tracking success rates of various strategies in various situations… at this rate pretty soon the whole game will be automated lol… that will be really really boring

Where else has the NFL got to go?

Coach's are becoming less & less brain and more and more predictable (analytical).

Hang times for his 3 first half punts and the free kick:
5:04
4:84
4:18
5:30
I’m no statistician, so I can’t vouch for accuracy.

Other than #3 (don't know the distance or predictament) those are very respectable hang times. I don't think Presley has any major problems. I do think he is working on technique and pre-season games is th best "game time" to experience frutition of his practice.
