Pretty sure I would fire him on the spot

I understand the angst but I can also see the BOO's rain down on Lovie had they not made the 3 required yards for the first down and then the Colts only need 12 yards to win by a FG...

Strange call but I kinda get it...
didn't take you for a *****

sorry it was a gutless quitter call

Realistically the Texans are not going anywhere this year so I guess it would have been better to give it a go. On the flip side crazier things have happened and our tie last year got us into the playoffs.

punting was the right call. You are picked to be the worst team in the league. You got your team to battle a team considered a contender to a tie with just 26 seconds left. A tie is a much better outcome. If they were 10 yards further, i'd say go for it. But with just :26 left? Looks like they only had 1 TO left. EVen if they got the 1st down, they'd probably have to burn the TO. Then you probably need another 10 yards or so without that TO.

The bottom line to me is that even if you get that conversion, you still may not win the game. There's still work to do. But if you get stopped, it seems you give the Colts a high chance to win, because they have the ball at midfield with 1 TO and 3 downs to get about 10 yards.

Fans look at it and say go for it because you are going to stink this year anyway so may as well get the best draft pick. But coaches and players never think that way. They want the best result each week. I feel that where they are as a team, with so little expected of them, this is a result that can build momentum.

I know it's the Texans and playoffs are likely out of the question but this was a division game. A tie is a lot better than a loss in a division game. Steelers made the playoffs on a tie last year.

in general though, I think momentum has a lot to do with the decision on 4th down. I didn't see this game at all so I'm assuming it was mostly a struggle to move the ball.

Contrast that with the Giants who went for 2 and the win rather than kick the XP. It was absolutely the right call. I was watching that game and Barkley had gone into beast mode. Titans were gassed. Giants had all the momentum and were smart enough to give it to Saquon who bulled his way in for the game winning 2 pointer.

After watching Denver HC Buddy Hackett butcher the time management at the end of MNF it makes Tomlin look like a f'n genius.

I honestly don't know how these idiots keep their jobs.

Yep. The odds of getting 4th and 5 HAS to be better than hitting a 64 yard field goal. All game, Hackett took FOREVER getting play calls in.

Thing is Tape, Dabol did it backwards. You go for 2 at home to win, because you have the crowd. When you are the away team, the crowd (normally) has you sound wise. But yeah, momentum has everything to do with it primarily.

tie game, final 26 seconds of OT facing 4th and 3 from midfield

and you ******* punt because "a tie is better than a loss"

**** that ****

I thought maybe O'Canada was in this somewhere.......................

Salute the nation

Another glaring example of a coaching mistake in the Thursday Night game. How do you not notice a player is gassed and wants to come out of the game, then run a play to him that results in a game changing 99 yard Pick 6?

other than in the final week of the season where getting the tie vs losing is the difference in getting into the playoffs there is absolutely no reason not to go for it there

lovie is a little *****

I hear you.

The odds were 50-50??? Maybe. I bet the locker room is divided on this too. I really can see the logic of a tie because a loss is always worse.

Just my two cents...

Coolie is gonna call you a ***** or a *****...but I agree with your logic.

but the Steelers didn't play for a tie the **** just happened do to ****** play
But they gained advantage in the end. It was better than a loss. So the coach in this case decided the tie was better than a loss and he felt the risk it wasn't worth the biscuit. If they go and fail its two plays and a field goal.

Possibility?
Maybe someone told him the titans and jags had already lost, so he knew he would still be tied for 1st place, so why risk it.
