Dream scenario Justin Houston. Premier pass rusher. Steep price especially if Franchised which is likely. But we all know thats not how we operate. Therefore Pernell McPhee is no 1 on my list. The Raven have Dumerville Suggs and Upshaw in front of this kid. Only 26 280 pounds 7.5 sacks in a limited role. Maybe cheaper then resigning Worlids. Plus the added benefit of taking him from a rival. Would also free us up to take the best availble CB S TE OL in the draft. I still wouldnt rule out another pass rusher. Jones still hasnt proven himself either.

And then reality set in.

We'd be out-bid by 20 other teams with more cap space than us, like always. Same for any other big name FA.

As of now (rough estimates)....only 37 players under contract and already pinching the bottom of the barrel

Ok, Pernell McPhee - IMO, he's Steve McClendon. I believe with a little creativity - S Mac can be moved, in passing formations, to OLB. That would mean that Big Dan would have to be able to stay on the field for 2-3 defensive plays consecutively, but, with that being said, it wouldn't hurt bringing your guy in...

Pernell McPhee OLB Ravens – This is my “prize” free agent if the Steelers could somehow be able to afford it. I don’t know what the level of interest the Ravens have in re-signing him, but with Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, and Courtney Upshaw, McPhee may want to try and step out of their shadows. At 280 pounds, he’ll be tough to move in run game. 2014 was a breakout year as a pass rusher with 7.5 sacks. That’s despite playing fewer than half the team’s total snaps. Just turning 26 last month, he’s the perfect player for a long-term, four year deal. I came away impressed watching him when I scouted the Ravens prior to Saturday’s playoff game. Not just with him as a pass rusher but his effort to run to the ball. For his size, he possesses an explosive first step. Think he’ll only grow with a full starting snaps and natural progression of his career.A day one starter at LOLB that would improve a Steelers’ pass rush that was anemic for a majority of 2014.

i'd like to see ryan kerrigan...but wtf am i kidding?

If we lowball Worilds (say $26M for 4 years like we should), he'll be gone and we'll be down to 1 starting OLB - Jarvis ******* Jones

We should have gotten Dumervil last year for $5M per for 5 years, now we're ****** again, no OLB's that can pass rush.

Why does Colbert still have a job?

Going to be interesting to see how much he commands on the open market.

Because THIS Kevin hasn't applied for it yet:p

I agree we need pass rushers, IMO I'd take an elite pass rusher over an elite CB right now, but where is the one place QB's hate to be pressured? Up the middle, the good teams, NE, they use Wilfork on passing downs, Baltimore uses Ngata on passing downs, the Packers used Raji on passing downs when healthy, Denver used (can't remember his name) last year on passing downs.
one of biggest issues is we get no push up the middle on passing downs, unless we blitz our middle LB's. We need to use some size in the middle on passing downs, that's where Mcclendon made his mark a few preseason ago, rushing the passer. Use him or McCullers and try to collapse the middle of the pocket on passing downs, IMO that has been one of our biggest issues over the past couple seasons.

There is only 1 FA pass rusher we have a legitimate shot at.

I'm already calling it - Please come back James!

One More Year!

I think he was on waivers and if so was he available?

Greg Hardy. But of course "the Steeler way" won't allow that to happen.

Its funny how Baltimore can have multiple quality pass rushers and even the backups are better than our starters but we can't draft or sign even one. Someone is responsible for this inadequate evaluation of talent on defense and to me it points to Tomlin and his influence over the draft.

They absolutely lucked up on Dumerville...if Denver doesnt **** up, he'd still be a donkey.....but i THINK I read somewhere that Pittsburgh won the AFC North this year......

YOu guys cant tell me you wouldnt jizz your drawers at the notion of Suh being in a Steelers uniform and rough-housing and abusing Flacco, Manziel and Dalton twice a year.....

should take a risk with Gred Hardy and flip to the 4-3
LE Heyward
NG Mcullers/Mclendon
3T Hardy
RE Tuitt
LOLB Shazier
MLB Timmons
ROLB Jones

rotating Vince Williams at MLB and Spence at both olb spots.
or if Troy is not cut he in the nickel is the blitzing lb

If I would target anyone INSTEAD of franchise tagging/signing Worilds (which I think this regime will stupidly do), is to use that money to sign Brandon Graham of Philadelphia.

Graham is a strong-side player. Graham is only 26 years old. Graham has been out-of-position for some part of his career and has blossomed when given opportunities in Philly in the 3-4 system (499 snap counts this year, 323 snap counts last year).

There is enough film to do your due diligence on his ability.

Personally, I think Graham is as good or better than Worilds for our system. It might take him longer to assimilate into the "system", but is that worth paying 50% more?

Something tells me Colbert is going to pay 50% more to Worilds than what Brandon Graham is going to get in free agency. We'll wait and see if I'm correct.

this thread feel like Christmas when you was 8 years old. Your list would be long in Oct., dwindle it down to about half of the possible things on your list in Nov. and then by Xmas you hope you were good enough to get one decent thing like a mitt or skateboard from Santa.

Graham wants to play in a 4-3. He wouldn't sign here.
