When I first entered the political arena several years ago, newly elected officials were invited to a conference where more seasoned officials talked about what city councils could and could not do under state law, how meeting are handled, etc.

One guy's speech talked about the first time he was elected years ago and how proud and excited he was to walk into city hall as a councilman for the first time. Proud because the citizens had put their trust in him and excited to see the money tree growing behind city hall.

In that is costs 45% more to create a gubmint job than a private sector job, some of the mystery of the $4T annual spend becomes clear. Further clarity emerges with the realization of the 40% premium gubmint jobs pay compared to their private sector counterpart.

have you seen the sizes of career-politician John Kerry's estates? Surely he employs quite a few people to maintain them, as I can't see the Kerrys setting aside a Saturday in the fall to rake leaves.
