A 77-year old named Kenneth Salas, who has dual citizenship in Panama and the United States, shot and killed two protesters who were blocking the Pan-American Highway, a major thoroughfare in Panama. The protesters were striking teachers and union activists (aren't they all?) who blocked the road with concrete debris, tree branches and other materials.
Salas was stuck back in the line of cars, exited his vehicle, approached the blockage and started removing the obstructions. He took at his semi-automatic pistol and was holding it in his right hand as he tried to remove some of the obstructions. He got involved in a minor verbal altercation with a couple protesters, one of whom asked, "Are you going to kill us?" Salas responded, "You want to be the first?" and shot the guy, who died at the scene. He then shot a second protester in the neck and that guy died on the way to the hospital.
Two lessons from this unfortunate incident:

Two lessons from this unfortunate incident:
- If the police don't do their job, citizens will.
- Don't block the ******* road.
