I don't understand why the Steelers cant find a good long term answer at the punter position. Anyone that is consistent. With all the college punters how can it be so difficult?

We could of taken one in the third round, but Noooooooo, we had to take a midget who will never make it in this league.

Wing has great hangtime, and he has been solid for the most part. Sure, that last punt was a stinker, but everyone has those. Dont forget- the guy is a Rookie.

The problem with our punters has been the constant 'search'. These guys (kickers in general) have have high pressure roles and I think they perform best when they have a sense of comfort and familiarity. Remember how shaky Suisham was when he first came?

Wing is Ok but I notice a big problem with his technique. He always punts flat footed and gets no extension as a result. The only other punter I ha e seen do this was the great Reggie Roby and Wing is not in his league. By not getting extension when he kicks he is losing power and distance.

I just glad he doesn't drop the ball behind the line or fumble the catch.

Suisham was 14-15 in field goals when he first came here, far from shaky.

I think Wing is good enough but he picked the worst possible time to make the worst possible punt on Sunday.

The punt sucked but he's a rookie. The real issue is allowing Tampa "*******" Bay to score a TD with 35 seconds left, no timeouts and more injuries than an episode of M.A.S.H.

Dude he could have punted it sixty five yards, did anyone think when we lined up to punt that we were stopping them?

The instant we had to punt, I turned to the person sitting next to me and said "we aren't going to stop them a second time" and we didn't.

They brought back Kiesel and Harrison so I don't see why they can't drag Josh Miller out of the radio station and suit him up. /sarcasm

Sorry but Wing is not good. Even in pregame if you watch him punt he's all over the place. He will have a good punt then shank one. He's isn't consistent enough for me. You just never know what he's going to do. Plus his good punt is just a decent punt to some of the better ones in the league.

I wanted the kid from Auburn, Steven Clark (Kiper had him as his #1 P). He IS a free agent after being cut by the Broncos.

He had something like 6 Punts returned out of over 120 in college! Better than an inconsistent Aussie, IMO.

He is also big enough to be a back-up OLB  @ 6'5" - 235#

Not necessarily true. One more play, a few more seconds, could change the outcome.

A 29 yd punt is not acceptable, rookie or not. Half of our local high school team can punt 29 yds. not, the punter but other players. I'm just saying, I know this is the NFL, but seriously after going through college and having a few NFL games under his belt, it's not like they are throwing a high school player in there. But even if they did, our guy could kick it more than 29 yds.....

It takes a couple years to learn the Steelers special teams system.

You can;t expect a rookie to start.

YES, this is very true. Our offense didn't help the cause much either!!

I was wondering why we hadn't looked at him either? Another poster had mentioned him! Wing has potential, but a 29yarder in that situation, was unacceptable, considering our QB could have done better.
