Quarterback Scouting Thread

Just saying- Rudolph was signed as Levis's backup. Started 4 games. Had a better win/loss ratio than the starter. Same crew around him.

That was a bad team.
And Rudolph showed what when he had his chance to shine with the Steelers?

I am not sure a fan could convince me at this point he is an attractive starter or could be.

He had his moments for the Steelers where someone could have said then but wait.

But that was then, this is now.

I think he had a few moments as a backup that he played well before his recent resign.. but not so sure we would see enough of that now.

Only way a team should start Rudolph is if the behind closed door plan is to get a high draft pick.

Other than that I see no benefit.

I hope he is shown the door.. I think it is time for a new try…

And the Steelers let him walk when they had seen him start a few games, and resigned him when they needed a b/u.

At first yes, I think he would. Unless he just blows him away during preseason, which we all hope he does. There is history for this, but it isn't under McCarthy so take it for what it is worth.

Until we see the kid take an actual NFL snap it is all conjecture as well as who else we may have as the 4th option.

What happens if when he takes those first snaps and looks like combine Will Howard?

Equally as possible as natty Will Howard showing up:

Most likely ya get a guy that looks like a mid round pick QB if I had to guess…time will tell if he can stay on the field an eventually get his first actual game snap…until then he’s Senquez Golsen with a lower cost.

Which is why I draft Allar if he is there in the late third or fourth. You hope Howard is the answer you don't put all your eggs in that basket.

We have 12 picks this year. with three of the picks being in the 3rd round. With three picks in the third round is where we take one of those QB's to compete against Howard. First two rounds, we address two of our three biggest needs which is WR, OL, DL. After we take a QB in the third, we use the other two third round picks on more OL and DL picks. Then go BPA the rest of the draft.

Safety is a big need.

We have the picks, if talent is evaluated properly, to address the majority of our needs. Not to mention what we do in free agency next week and the free agent period after the draft when some veterans are released. Khan is not shackled by Tomlin's dumb influence anymore. We will now see what Khan really has. I'm excited about that.

Hopefully the 2026 53 man roster doesn't feature a bunch of 6th and 7th round picks; it would be great to bundle 3 or 4 of the later picks to move up in spots

You said that Rudolph was statistically "twice the starter" that Levis was.
Levis: 2-10 (.167)
Rudolph: 1-4 (.200)

20 is not twice 16.7. Thus, your math is fuzzy. No big deal. Neither of them are starting QB material.

Heard rumor of a trade for Tyler Bagent. I know nothing about him.

Bears backup

Not very good but won a couple games as a rookie and hasn’t seen much action since Williams came to town

Basically another Skyler Thompson quality player
May be a camp arm, could become a QB3 if he was in the right spot.

Ain’t moving any QB needle, that’s for sure

get rid of Skyler add if you are not drafting Ty or Allar to develop if Howard is not the answer
1-2 deals to compete vs Howard
Murray Flacco Wentz jimmy G A rod Russ thats the trash left, if mccarty can use the dallas spread system bring in Murray
Howard vs. Murray vs. Rookie Cut Rudulph

I was hoping the Steelers would consider Tanner McKee. He's only 25 and looked pretty good when Hurts was out. Howard could still have a chance to complete with him, if they think he could be the guy. Two young guys with upsides couldn't hurt. I'm a little tired of the old guys that are afraid of getting hit.
