He showed promise here then the steelers insisted on playing him at his far less comfortable LG. He goes to the Rams, they play him at RG and he graded out as one of the best in the league. Now he's the 4th highest paid RG in terms of average salary.

Kendrick Green struggled from day 1, also because they forced him to play an unfamiliar position. Still, Green showed little upside so it made sense to cut bait. Dotson did show lots of promise early and the steelers just completely whiffed on coaching him.

Not to mention our OL coach has been hot garbage his entire career. Even our first round pick regressed so much that he would not be better at LT than RT until he gets the Inside moves under control. All of our FA additions have played worse as well. Is it the scheme? I don't know myself BUT if any player comes in for 3 years and doesn't get better...they are gone. Why not coaches too? We know who is good and has a history of being good so why not hire THAT guy?

I bet Dotson is glad he got traded last year. Imagine if he was kept here. Regulated to a back up spot.....trade changed his life forever.

The Steelers scouts may just be way better than the guys tasked with coaching them

It’s like going to a nice butcher getting a beautiful bacon wrapped filet then the cook butterflies it so he can cook it well done and serves it with a side of Mayo 🤦🏻‍♂️

But what happened to the bacon? Bacon can save a bad steak

Bacon got tossed away like garbage when the dumbass cook was butterflying the filet so he could cook it to well done

Buy hay, we have the best HC ever. This ******* moron couldn’t develop a player or recognize a player’s best position if his life depended on it.
Nelson the safety he got rid of bashed the hell out of shades and he played well for the Texans.
Kendrick Green actually played decent for the Texans at his original position of guard until he got hurt.
But hay, let’s give him an extension, he’s never had a losing season.

That's a shitload of money for a G, I wouldn't have been happy with that contract here
In 5 years it will be peanuts.

If you have an all pro guard, who excels at pass and run blocking, and who can pull downfield exceptionally... then by all means give the guy a big contract.... otherwise spend that money at tackle and get a regular guard at 3 or 4 times league minimum

Dotson isn't very good at pulling, he is not the all pro guard you are describing. So yeap, spend that money at OT or even CB

This is a real and disturbing truth about how these Steelers operate: changing players positions so willy nilly only to have it blow up in their faces. What's wrong with drafting players at the positions they excelled at and leaving them there? Drafting Green and putting him at C was a bonafide disaster. (Not only did they move him to C but they expected him to pick it up and start there as a ROOKIE, major Colbert FAILING. And then they jerked him around and moved him back to OG, where he failed, and then - in total desperation - moved him to FB. What a joke.)

Moving Dotson to LG was not as BAD as a waste, but it still was foolish. Rams move him back to RG and he becomes a top 4 OG in the NFL, while in Pgh he ended up so bad he was benched/traded. Sending an ALERT to Kahn: Knock off the willy nilly movement of players from their natural positions. No, we have no magic coaching to make it happen successfully. None.

Look at Leal as well. They wasted a premium pick on a projected position switch. I don't think he even got a helmet for most games last year, even with Cam injured.

Last offseason was great. It's obvious there was a change in who calls the shots. Hope they keep it up and

And?

It's just a 3 years contract for ***** sake

That’s why the actual paper contract will be worth peanuts, only a hard-core collector would pay for it in peanuts, the contract itself——- the paper it was written on————

Salute the nation

We have a 1st round LT playing RT because Dan Moore can’t play anywhere else—- very well——— WTF is that ???
