Roberts Released

I didn’t see that coming.

I did notice they played him late into that preseason game never a good sign. But I just thought he was getting his feet wet being a late sign.

None the less they didn’t see that LBer of two years ago obviously.

I thought he came in and looked good in the small amount of camp he was here for, and then played well in the game. He's a huge run stopper. I guess there's something there we weren't privy to as fans, but I thought some of the local pundits thought he was a lock for a roster spot.

Not a good sign that they were compelled to sign him and then released him. I suspect they might sign another ILB.
Perhaps . They do have I think what 5 still on the roster?

There may be more layers to this onion than we think. He’s not subject to waivers and can be resigned back to the 53. I’m wondering if this is a cap/roster/ business shuffling move for that purpose

A move to keep Howard on the roster for some reason? There were already IR rumors for him. I’m unclear on the rules.

I thought he did exactly what they brought him know to do. Hammer the run. I wouldn't not have liked to be in on that exit meeting. Or been the sap who told him to go see McCarthy.

If a vested vet gets cut that you expected to make tge roster, remember, they dont go through waivers..,

So teams often cut them with habdshake deals to resign them after they carry a younger waiver eligible guy into the season to put them on IR
Ahh interesting

Ahh interesting
We did it with Charlie batch and a couple other guys too... you have 2 IR spots where you can put a guy on preseason and bring them back in season after several games, but only two.. back in the day there were 0 such spots, so it was more common

So if you have 3 injured younger guys... you either do this or lose one for the season...

Two other options are you are pursuing a trade for a player and you want to keep an extra guy at the spot till its finalized because the team interested is stalling, hoping you will cut one of your guys at the position first..

Or you intend to do something with JPJr cause he doesnt plant to play for a period of time due to his "injury"

ex steelers cuts reporte by fowler:
- DL Isaiahh Loudermilk released by Vikings, per source.
(no cry over spilled milk)
- Bears released veteran wide receiver Scotty Miller.
(dont tell Scotty)

and in extra news,
- Buffalo is releasing veteran QB Shane Buechele, per source.
(this after torching our 4th stringers mind you)

Just getting him into game shape, they will sign direct to PS, no waivers.

Salute the nationb

They'll likely call him up if there's an injury. Now he knows the new system.
