Does anyone know his injured reserve status? Is he eligible to come back or did they pretty much stick a fork in his season?

They have been very quiet on him. Not sure.

Couple injuries this year that started in camp. I think they’re redshirting Roman this year ala Cal Austin III his rookie year.
He’ll be back next year with Cal Austin and Pickens and hopefully some badly needed quality receivers added to the mix. I’m thinking high draft pick and FA addition. Tee Higgins anyone?

This pick never made sense to me. We see Smith's offense. He wants physical WRs that can block. That's why Skowronik and Van Jefferson get so many snaps despite neither of them being much of a threat to a defense. How does Roman Wilson fit in the offense.

I think they were certain they were getting Aiyuk, so they drafted Wilson to be a slot WR and maybe a return man. Now that they need an outside WR and Austin is ahead of him as a slot WR, what value does he bring?

Its like every insider said.. he missed too much preseason and was never totally up to speed, so as soon as his injury flared up, they redshirted him for next year...

Why not use him him to confuse now?
Let him play 10-15 snaps against the Rats and have DangeRuss send 3rd down moonball towards him? He must be faster than any WR other than Williams and CA3.

He seems like a kid who never really had an injury before, and I wonder if the coaches just got frustrated with it.

because he just isn't a fit in this offense. I hated this pick from the beginning, but this WR class wasn't all that deep.

I vaguely remember someone saying he was overdrafted. 🤔

He was a second tier WR after all the first tier guys were gone. I honestly think he was drafted because of his inside blocking ability. But he must have incredibly underwhelmed as a receiver to be honest. I still have hope he can compete for reps as a slot only guy. He was decent at slant and crossing routes. But that still leaves a huge hole opposite of GP. IMO Skowronek might be the best option at X. Imo he can block better than Jefferson and gives us a little more ability at this stage in his career over Williams.

What I'm hearing is that he hasn't been used properly this season. Will he be used properly in the future? Can Smith turn him into a contributor under Tomlins watchful eye and guidance

He's on IR but can come back but why bother? The dude missed all of camp and most of the season on IR. He hasn't really practiced with the team since OTA's. No way will Tomlin let him sniff the active roster.

You can’t properly evaluate a receiver on IR until he is healthy and playing. Despite the I told you so’s slanted viewpoints.

Yep. He was in that second tier wr group. Value really wasn’t there. Some of the most unintelligent of Steelers fans compared Roman to Diontae Johnson. Of course they’ll never admit that they were wrong. Or even acknowledge their mistake.

But he's been playing football his whole life. This isn't building a rocket ship. I'd figure he knows the playbook. Run routes, catch the ball, run after you catch the ball.

It's not like the Steelers run complex schemes, hell opposing teams still call out what they're running presnap all the time.

Which is an even bigger problem now that I mention it..lol.

People love to stick forks in food that isn’t thoroughly cooked. Players can disappoint in their first season and still go on to be productive. It happens.

who?

I liked the reference to unintelligent fans. There are many. Other teams fans possess the same ability. It's entertaining to talk with them sometimes. But I find it best to watch the game alone.

I like watching the game with diehard fans. The casuals seem to veer off in their in game focus.

They are still my buds and I still invite them over.

But can’t say it isn’t annoying here and there.
