Rookie Mini Camp

They signed corner Anthony Averett from mini camp. Veteren who has played for the ravens, raiders and lions. 29 years old. Not much slot work but did start for the ravens for a year on the outside. Nothing special but another guy with speed, special team experience and the ability to play corner in the nfl. Not bad addition for depth.

They seem to be making an effort to add speed to special teams.
I think he is potentially a 53 add we will see.

I live near Baltimore. The sports radio channel today was laughing at this.
And they can. He has been hurt and bounced around. **** a lot of them diss the PQ signing. I wouldn’t expect them to give any ex-rat a lot of love.

Now this is the type of rookie camp news I was anticipating in reading: GA RB Edwards turning heads at RB. He's on the small side (5-10, 207 LBs) but not THAT small. If Joe Morris could make it (5-7, 200LBs) so can Edwards. I'm looking forward to seeing this guy make it and put the Najee talk to rest.
He’s slower than molasses (ran a 4.7+) and doesn’t have a second gear. If anything, he’s practice squad material.

MTC was telling me about his lack of a second gear. I tend to listen to the fans who see the players in every game of their career. I will have to agree with you probably just PS material.

That sounds like Najee with less size but more vision. Hmmmmmmm. Najee is really 2nd string material.

I‘ve watch several UGA games yearly due to the SEC Football League creeping everywhere. Edwards was a bowling ball for sure, but behind that line a 70 year old could gain 5 yards a carry. Milton was probably the better of the two starters, which is what UGA does. I’d compare Edwards to a poor man’s Benny Snell, Jr.

Your hearing must be pretty bad. Najee’s UN-official 40 was 4.46. There was no combine when he was drafted, and he didn’t workout on his pro-day. Najee was so much more effective inside and outside because he had a change of direction burst. Long speed wasn’t his game, punishing tacklers and making them fall off was.

Edwards, obviously, has tremendous low COG, becaise of his height/weight measurables…just like Warren, who is much, much shiftier and faster.

Yup and he was, for his size, he was "kind of quick."

Jerome had some wheels on him too. It didn’t take as much “afterburner” as in todays NFL. Defenses where a tad slower back then.

quickest feet on a big man I have ever seen. Made him much fun to watch...that and his steamrolling hits like the one on Urlacher.
Boy, he sure was fun to watch and so was the OL play. Cowher had that run game down with Bettis.

3.9 yard career average and in the HOF

Different ERA, that 3.9 wasn't bad back then. Consider that all the defenses knew what was coming, he did well.
