There is no player on this team and possibly in the league that is classier that Troy Polamalu. Everyone knows where his game is at right now, and I'm 99.9% sure that he does to. To print an article saying he shouldn't play is dumb. Like MT is going to make a decision based on this douche bags input. Be respectful of a player who has done so much for this team and though I don't live anywhere near Pittsburgh ,I would imagine the community as well.

link?.............

Figured that would come up.
A. I'm slightly more tech savy than an elderly nun.
B. Not sure if we are supposed to make links to that particular newspaper.
C. If they want to delete the thread because people don't want to click twice instead of once, go ahead.

The d got better because Ike was benched, I would still play Troy, he would've made a few plays vs those damn short horizontal passes vs KC and Atlanta.

I tend to agree with Rossi. The defense played better with Will Allen taking Troy's place. No one argues that Troy isn't "classy" but classy does not win games or defend passes, a skill that Troy no longer has. If Troy or Ike play, Flacco shows up big and we lose.

I also think Will Allen is an upgrade over Troy at this point. Unfortunately. That's probably my favorite Steeler in the last 20 years I'm talking about but in the words of Bill Cowher, "It is what it is". Age catches up with the greatest of them.

Rob Rossi is also unnecessary.

As far as Polamalu goes, I'd use him in certain situations, but not as an every-down player on Saturday if he's healthy enough to play.

Whether they play him or not is certainly debatable. I just feel that debate should take place here and not in the newspaper. I think he has earned that respect. If Rossi is going to single out players for below standard play, what about Jarvis Jones? Jason Worilds? You let a legend like Polamalu quietly fade out in my opinion. Then you pay him tribute down the line.

It's his job to get people to read his articles not to be popular.

Are u some of u guys kidding me. Y'all think Allen is an upgrade over Troy ? Wow. I guess KC with its screen plays Allen never was even close to Is an upgrade? Allen and the D plays well against cinci and its because of Allen ? How about the 2 picks McCain got. The ball bounces our way for a change. But to think Allen did anything special is ridiculous. Troy should absolute be on the field. He's still 3 times the ball player that Allen is. Un real that Tomlin even considers not playing him

Calling out a star like Polamalu generates more publicity and discussion than calling out Jones or Worilds would.

Polamalu simply isn't very good anymore, and if they choose to play him over Allen, I hope it is because they sincerely feel Polamalu gives them the better chance to win and not out of some moral obligation.

Call me old fashioned, but there are very few people who should be above criticism. Troy has not only been one of the greatest players this team has ever had, but seems like one of the best people the game has known. I'm sure there were times when Joe Greene's play slipped below the line of the guys behind him. It doesn't need to be highlighted. I'm of the mind that him playing is really up to Tomlin. As far as what I've seen they have done a much better job of limiting the deep ball with Allen. For football purposes I agree he might be the better option. I just don't think Rossi's opinion matters. Tomlin sure as hell isn't going to make his decision based upon that. From what I heard in his presser, he isn't making the decision based upon Troy or Ike's availability. He is putting the best 22 on the field, as he sees it.

So how would you feel if the article went the other direction? That Troy should start because of who he is? The bottom line is he wrote an article ...you know his job. That's it.

It was a fair article. I didn't get a disrespectful vibe about it. Mitchell and Allen have very good chemistry as the safeties. i wouldn't hesitate to dress 43, but I wouldn't start him. Use home if needed and as needed.

Rossi still hasn't earned his cred as far as I am concerned... his failures with the Pens beat should never have gotten him a promotion

Unfortunately it looks like not only will Troy dress, he will start.

On other fronts: Troy Polamalu continued to take all of the first-team snaps over Will Allen. Nothing to see there anymore, though I will bring it up one final time for Friday Insider

This X1000. Seriously, I listened to him on The Fan a couple of weeks ago trying to talk about the NFL. He sounded like a hockey guy trying to talk football, it was a joke.

Troy hasn't made a game-changing play all year....Probably not in the last 3 years....

I wouldn't start him, but have him play as well in spots

Dude you are thinking of Polamalu circa 2012. This is not that guy. I love him, but you have to be real. He is a definite liability in coverage and is a run support safety at this point. At least Allen can still run.

How many forced fumbles did he have last year?

This is stupid....use both players. Use both players strength in certain situations.

Rossi writes for the tribune review and I believe links etc are ok with that particular paper. The paper that used to be two separate papers is the one that shall not be named nor linked or quoted even though they troll on here to find material for their stories. There have been instances when the bird cage liner that shall not be named has nearly taken what was posted verbatim from this site and printed it as their own. I believe on one occasion it was one of TMCs posts. We may still have others on the board that have had their posts used as the basis of articles with out any recognition at all.

I remember a while back legal action was threatened when folks would quote articles and it has been the paper that is not named and in my case no longer read since that event.

I remeber that time as well Wingman. I too, don't read that paper at all. I cross an article here and there, but never intentionally read it.

Salute the nation

I read the column...

What's the big deal? It's his opinion. We know what they're like; everybody has one.

He makes some good points. But I take issue with his comment about ghosts. (I'm here, aren't I?)
