In somewhat of an odd move, the Seahawks released a statement on Wilson's behalf (teams don't usually release statements about a player's personal life).

"I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," Wilson said. "Clearly, decisions like these don't come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this matter."

making a salary cap move so he can trade up when he inks that new contract.
 
Good move. Let her take half now..before the new contract. He IS smart.
 
That would be an interesting settlement. She didn't have to agree. She could have stayed separated until the gravy train heads into the station. He must be paying her some serious up front cash. I realize that First Round pick money was just stupid. But once again Goodell overreacts and comes up with the dumbest solution. This kid is still making chump change this year and maybe next. Not only is that unfair to him, but once they prorate his big contract and backloaod some of it, they will have had a premium type QB for like 6 years on an average salary of maybe 3-4 million dollars a year. How is that fair in terms of competitive balance.

I think he should sit out a season or two, go work at McDonalds and make the NFL suffer.

She has that crazy woman look like deon's nut job wife. He was likely smart to git rid of her I believe the term for women like that is high maintenance. She has a mouth that looks like you could put a size 12 high top in there.
 
How much could she possibly receive? If they do not have kids they are both very young...it's not like she paid for his college education. Give her a couple hundred G's and enjoy life.
 
sorry for their differences. For what ever the reason, its sad, for any couple (legitimately) to end. That said, if its going to happen, 50/50 split, including the pet horse (steak for supper)!!!!

I think she's a couple years older than him too. She was the "hot" upper classman (she was a swimmer) that went fishing in the freshman pool of athletes at NC State to try and hook a winner.

Sounds like Wilson (probably a little green behind the ears) too her lovin' hook, line and sinker. She graduated before him and followed him to Wisconsin when he transferred (couldn't let him find someone better!).

They got married in 2012.

Sounds like she has issues with trust and smothered the **** out of him. That type of attention is nice when you're a freshman and then you're committed, but he's old enough now to realize he wants to take advantage of his fame a bit and test the waters. She's a decent catch for a typical college player, but a Super Bowl winning quarterback looking to make $15+ million/season? On the west coast? You start talking about a pretty exclusive club of options.

Have you been asleep for the past few decades? Alimony has nothing to do with fairness. You think childless Hollywood wives deserve half?

alimony is just a tool for wealth redistribution. Fair has nothing to do with it. Logic has nothing to do with it.

The funny part is how feminists are on board with alimony. They claim independence and how they can do everything a man can do, but they drop all that stuff when they see a payday coming. Now they are the damsel in distress who can't possibly fend for herself in the cruel world without half her husband's net worth.

Somebody you're with 5-6 years becomes entitled to half your earning potential for life when no kids involved? Yeah, that peggs the bullshit meter.
