Dri Archer was a wasted pick.
I would think we need to keep William Gay on the team, it is unlikely that we get a big upgrade over him at his price and very easily could be a player for the same money and not as good. I suspect that next year we do not have heath or troy and are likely looking at players not as good as they were in their younger days.
ol boy wants us to cut everyone
SMH
I still can't believe we signed Cortez to what $6 million per season. The dude sucks and they made it a point to throw right at him last night when he was in the game.
Looking more into this if we cut Allen after June 1 he would only cost us 1.35 mil and free up 5.631 mil in cap space and that would be a lot better deal there. Plus if he keeps playing the way he is this would be the best option out there.
no is the opposite we had to eat his signing bonus but we save 1,5 milion . basically if you keep him is 6,9 milion vs cap if released is 5,3 ...so since is useless i would cut him and eat the dead money , and move on
Why the **** do we owe wood 5 this year and 8 next!!! Jfc. What did we save if anything cutting him
I think we really could save a ton of money and help our production with just a few moves(according to overthecap):
Cut McClendon cost 558,334 while saving 2.25 mil.........McCullers steps in here
Cut Cam Thomas cost us 500k while saving 2 mil...........Tuitt steps in
Cut Lance Moore cost us 322,500 while saving 1.5 mil........anyone steps in Brown is making 420k this season
Cut Gay cost us 166,668 while saving 1.5 mil.........Will have to spend money here CB is a spot that needs it
Resign Heyward to a long term deal changing his cap number next season from 6.9 mil to maybe something like 2 mil with money pushed out in years.
Extend Ben changing his cap number from 18.8 mil to something that can help the cap the next year or two use a nice signing bonus to be spread out thru the contract.
Troy and Heath have big numbers I feel we can keep one and let one go and I think it may be Troy... :-(
I am not a cap guy I am just looking at this website and seeing where we can make cut imo without totally having to replace half the team. According to this site our top 51 will count like 137.5 mil and the cap being projected at around 145 mil with the savings above we could have 10 mil to play with to fill some holes while having 4-5 mil left for the draft class. Also I am sure Bell will be looking for a raise as well.......thoughts?
Sorry about that I had it backwards lol. There is no difference between pre and post June cuts and plus we would spread 5.4 over two years. The problem with all this is that every year we keep making "dead" money and we struggle with the cap. The answer is simple contracts like we gave Allen are bad, was he really top 5 contract worthy????? I know we are all still pissed that we let Lewis go but we can't panic and over spend. Allen got paid like a true #1 corner and his play is bad, these are the moves that are killing this team, imo!
- Cam Thomas should be cut at the end of the season. It was a good contract as the guaranteed money was low, now we can dump his fat ***
- McLendon should be kept, even if McCullers develops you need backups and rotation, the team is thin at DLine and Keisel is probably on his final year, McL can play DE too and his price is not that big
- Lance Moore I don't know. Justin Brown is regressing so he might not be part of the team next season. It all depends on Martavis development through this season.
- It will be very hard to find a better nickel Corner earning less or even the same that Gay does. Keep him
