Scalia has died

Hypocrites

Obama Was 1st US President To Vote To Filibuster A Supreme Court Nominee

It would be poetic justice for the GOP to block any Obama nominee.

Obama had no problem throwing a wrench in the works of democracy by voting to filibuster George Bush's nominee to the high court, Samuel Alito.

Obama told George Stephanopoulos on ABC News This Week that he would "be supporting the filibuster because I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values, not just liberal values, you know. When you look at his decisions in particular during times of war, we need a court that is independent and is going to provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not shown himself willing to do that repeatedly."

In other words, because Alito did not share his judicial philosophy and he felt the judge's ascension to the Supreme Court would not allow an independent check on the excessive use of executive branch power, Obama, in fact, voted to block the appointment.

Then-Sen. John Kerry led the effort to filibuster Alito, which ultimately came up short, and the judge was approved.

I think Obama will try to nominate a liberal disguised as a moderate. Don't be fooled.

There is nothing in the constitution that say Congress must approve he appoints anyway.

This is exactly why the American People hate our Politicians. The Constitution says the POTUS is tasked with offering up his/her selection, the Senate will choose to accept or deny appointment.

These stupid Republicans are just pissing more people people every day. All they had to do was let the appointment be made by King Barack the Fabulous, and hold hearing after hearing to make the best choice, and deny. Then ask for another recommendation, and do the same thing. Eventually it would fall to the next POTUS to finish what was started. Instead, they tip their hand and look like the total idiots they really are.

These morons need to remember a quote I heard years ago, " It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt"

Obama is truly a classy king whom we should bow down to for tolerating our peasantly presence.

Meanwhile...............anybody buying this?

I personally think the Republicans shouldn't be so quick to yell "no vote".

To me, as a moderate Republican, I would think they could force Obama to select a moderate right-wing candidate to replace Scalia. And that is a chicken in the hand vs. two in the bush of MAYBE winning the White House in November.

While I am slowing jumping onto the Trump train, I am not very confident he can win a national election even if I see such huge faults in both Clinton and Sanders. Those faults are through the eyes of someone who lived during the Cold War and is ardently anti-socialist. Those faults are through eyes that never really liked Bill Clinton much and as I grow older am even more critical of his infidelities with 20-year olds and question his and his wife's ethics.

I'm not everyone in the country however.

It's still a battle to 270 and Trump is going to have a hard time regardless of the negatives (and there are some).

So if was the Republicans, I would be very careful about passing on a potential moderate right wing candidate now. You might get a real liberal ***** Clinton will throw at you next January.

Now that the usual boisterous overreaction has simmered down here at far-right Republicanland, we can finally get some clarity on the situation.

Scalia Fam ‘Okay’ With Obama's Funeral No-Show
http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats/2016/02/18/scalia-fam-okay-with-obama-s-funeral-no-show.html

The White House on Thursday defended President Barack Obama’s decision not to attend the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s funeral and accused critics of using the funeral as a “political cudgel.”

“There’s so much rancor in politics and partisanship that we allow ourselves to get drawn into different corners to the extent that some people actually want to use the funeral of a Supreme Court justice as some sort of political cudgel,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Thursday. “The president doesn’t think that that’s appropriate, and, in fact, what the president thinks is appropriate is respectfully paying tribute to high-profile patriotic American citizens, even when you don’t agree on all the issues. And that’s what he’s going to do.”

Earnest reiterated that while Obama won’t attend Scalia’s funeral, he and first lady Michelle Obama will pay their respects Friday as Scalia lies in repose. “Vice President [Joe] Biden, who is somebody that had his own personal relationship with Justice Scalia and his family, will be representing the administration at the funeral,” he reminded reporters.

“Given his personal relationship with the family and given the president’s desire to find a respectful way to pay tribute to Justice Scalia’s service to the country, we believe we have settled on an appropriate and respectful arrangement,” Earnest said.

Obama's decision to skip the funeral puzzled both allies and critics, especially because the president is facing a fierce fight with the Senate over the confirmation of Scalia's replacement. However, people close to the Scalia family said Obama was making the right choice and that the Friday ceremony at the Supreme Court was the better place for Obama to pay his respects.

An Obama administration official said on Thursday that Biden had established a rapport with Scalia and his wife, Maureen, but said the vice president isn’t expected to speak at the funeral.

“Justice Scalia and I had fundamental disagreements about how the Supreme Court interprets the Constitution, but we shared a belief that sharp debates, tough questions, and deep respect for the adversarial process was an essential part of our judicial system and our democracy,” Biden said in a statement. “For the country, Justice Scalia will be remembered as one of our most influential justices, who inspired and challenged generations of students, clerks, lawyers, and judges.”

Obama spoke at length about Scalia during a press conference Saturday, hours after Scalia was reported to have died at a luxury hunting Texas, and again on Tuesday. He said the conservative judge would be remembered as one of the “most consequential judges and thinkers to serve.”

“I think all of that taken together reflects the kind of approach that I think that most Americans are looking for from their leaders in Washington, D.C.,” Earnest said.

Odumma's excuse for missing the funeral is beyond laughable. He truly is the divider in chief leading the divisive party of no. I have absolutely zero respect for this idiot. Oh, but he had plenty of time to meet with the race baiting, racist group, black lives matter at the WH. WTF!

Well of course Obama cannot attend; after all, the Obama administration is short-staffed, since it is sending 3 more representatives to a Michael Brown mime festival/tribute concert in Ferguson.

Obama is a scumbag. No shocker. I wouldn't want that prick at my funeral either. My personal thought is Scalia was murdered. Let's see if dear leader tries a recess appointment. He clearly hates conservatives and republicans more than our own enemies who he sympathizes with and gives aid to in many ways.

The article doesn't say what the title purports it to say. It's just spin and backhanded "compliments" from the pouter in chief and his mouthpiece.

I made this today so if you see it on FB it was me.

Nah, that's not Bomma's style. He'll nominate an in-your-face Commie Libtard like Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, or Elizabeth Warren and dare the GOP to turn them down. Which they won't.

Obama cracking himself up talking about appointing a judge. Really seemed to enjoy this "joke".
