some guys can not make the switch to center

find a true center and let green try guard
That is exactly right! The man was a guard in college his natural position and I think his best chance to succeed in the NFL. However as I've said in the past I see Green as a backup only. He's not a starter in this league in my opinion. He certainly does need to get stronger too this off season to have any chance and I suspect he will. Draft a center day one or day two or sign a quality free agent. Draft a tackle day one or two depending on what you do with center or bring in free agent tackle. Sign Ju Ju and put Claypool on the market and push for a #2. Young, physical receiver that needs coached up and disciplined may garner that number #2. Man with two picks in the second round coupled with our first we could get a center, a DL, and an OT if we decide to do it by the draft. This football team will need a true number one receiver so I'd dip into free agency and maybe we can bring in a Devonte Adams, maybe.

Green just isn't a Center at this point, and I agree with you that he's a backup Guard. I'm curious to see how hard he works in the off season with Strength training, and some OL coaching. We need a Center and a Guard and I'm going free agency with both if I'm Colbert. Laken Tomlinson is a nasty dude and cap friendly. I'm targeting Ryan Jensen at Center if I can get his numbers inline. Those two additions would make a world of difference for the running game. Draft an OL and DL in the draft as a priority for added depth.

Posted this in the game ball thread.

Najee "The Beast" Harris now has 1,172 yards rushing with 7 TD's and 440 yards receiving with 3 TD's for totals from scrimmage of 1,612 with 10 TD's. All of this behind the worst OL in the NFL. This is also in what would have been a normal 16 game schedule. He now gets a 17th game to add to these totals.

I'm sorry to the Najee haters/bashers (there are a few on here) but you have your heads up your *****. Doing what he has done behind this line is nothing short of incredible. He is one of the best in the league as a ******* rookie! Behind a decent O-line, he easily passes 2,000 yards from scrimmage and with fewer touches than this year.

And he takes great care of the football (has he had even 1 fumble?)

Title of this thread (and that nasty stiff arm) reminds me of an old Lucacris song.

per that nfl.com link posted previously, no. not a single fumble.

Najee, Ekeler, Eli Mitchell, Kamara, Fournette - not a fumble among them.
Najee's been used more than the other four.

Who exactly has been "bashing" the Harris pick? Me?

I have focused on the Freiermuth vs. Humphrey choice. And picking Green. And playing Green.

Again, that goes back to passing on Humphrey and playing Green. Imagine having a chance at a guy like Creed Humphrey. Jeez, look at what Harris did with Hassenauer at center.

I'm not sure who but there have been comments about how slow Najee is and how he's not getting yards, etc. Don't recall names and not going to point them out even if I did recall them.

I had stated a few times about Najee getting so many yards after contact. Just read one statistician had him at 181 yards out of 188 for yards after initial contact. That is freaking crazy!

Yeah I thought Hassenauer looked really good. Humphrey would be amazing.

make no mistake how much different this season would have been with Humphrey. Ben would be dictating instead of being dictated to.

Just a couple morons like Coach and ChumpYINZ. Anybody with working eyes (and brain) can see this cat is special. I think some were also just torn on the Steelers fixing the mess in front of him first. But I'd be hard pressed to pass on a guy like that. As much as I like Muth, Creed Humphrey in the 2nd would've been a homerun.

And DIC beats me to it.

Freieruth hasn't made near as big an impact that Humphery would have made had we taken him.!

Seems like RB and center would be a common sense duo. Can't change the past so Freiermuth will boost big time next season.

I like Freiermuth a lot but I would have liked Humphery a whole lot too !!!

Yeah, now that it's in the past I'm just happy Muth isn't a bust. I think Muth could be a valuable weapon for years to come. That pic of Muth and Miller together was pretty cool.

1000% true. Passing on Humphrey in the 1st for Harris is definitely defensible. The RB situation was dire and Harris is elite.

However, passing on Humphrey in the 2nd was an abject disaster. The management thought they were the smartest guy in the room, pass on a guy who projected as a very, VERY good center and take a project in the 3rd. Everything said that Humphrey was the real deal - his film, his performance in the Senior Bowl, his incredible raw workout numbers, his size, strength, everything. Take a look at quick highlight video of him in Senior Bowl practice:

Hand position, balance, strength - all there. He wins the battle time after time.

Instead, the team takes a freaking tight end for an offense that simply does not use the TE like it probably should. Look at the holes the line opened in the A-gap last night with a decent center. Imagine having an elite guy at that position for the next 10 years.

Oh well, that ******* ship sailed. Mikey T. has some hilarious bon mots and malapropisms that the NFL Network loves so it's all good!

Several run plays where I watched the replays closely, both Hassenauer and Leglue, in particular, were pushing their guys well off the line. I haven't seen that much at all this entire season. Leglue should get a shot at starting or being a solid backup next year. He and Adams on D didn't start playing until late in the season. An offseason of OTA's and camp will help them tremendously.

I didn't see that, awesome.

I was looking for the pic somebody else on here posted and found this. - even better. Apparently Arians texted Ben about Muth. Yes, Humphrey was needed, but I don't think we got a bust in Muth. Water under the bridge.

Harris had an insane number of yards after contact as well.

Loved the stiff arm and although it was at the expense of Killebrew, I had to respect that stiff arm from Chubb as well.

Najee is averaging 3.7 YPC before last night, Green and Dotson are out, Hossenauer and Leglue come in, Najee goes 28-188, 6.7 YPC, TD.

So the plan is to put Green and Dotson BACK into the lineup, and hope Green lifts weights this offseason? Hey, here's an idea - keep them off the field!
I think if you put Dotson in at RG in place of Turnstile Turner, this line would be even better and the whole bigger! Dotson played damn good at RG when he replaced Decastro, but not so well at LG.
