I don’t know how many people here follow the history of snopes, but basically its a site founded by a liberal internet troll. The vast majority of its “factcheckers” were liberal posters from various messageboards.., they run a acheme that posts Heavy liberal biased conclusions on certain issues and Heavy obvious conservative biases on less critical items to maintain a moderate rating…. Anyhow they are a long term pain in the *** for unbiased data… recently the rumor is the founder and former troll couldn’t keep away from antagonistic internet banter and created a false persona to post on his own site without getting backlash… unfortunately that troll persona was caught in a plagiarism charge over 57 articles and the overall deceit might cost him his stakes in the company….
Snopes and factcheck and several other alleged unbiased fact checkers have a longstanding issue with not trying to spin results to what they believe… the reality is always going to be in most fact checks that the result is going to be inability to confirm or deny.. their weird way of trying to say “probably right or wrong “ or giving excuses takes away from the underlying reason for fact checking… its cold and politically neutral and mostly gives few absolutes in a vacuum…
