His brilliant next negotiating move is to ask for more money? Now he wants 17 million per. It's not about the guaranteed money he wants to be paid the exact same per year as AB. Per Aditi Kinkhabwala.

why isn't he getting the 14.5? Did they pull the tag?

The tag is 14.5. Hasnt been pulled.

He must of thought the salary restructure for AB was for HIS benefit. His mother should set him down and provide illumination to the situation.

Bottom line is, Bell will come in late again, play the year and then we will get a 3rd Rd comp pick for him when he signs elsewhere.

I can’t see us breaking the bank on him, and he has made it clear he wants more money than we are willing to give him.

Shame it will go down this way, but dems the breaks.

With the new APPARENT rule change on leading with your helmet, we will NEED a dancing RB more than ever.........must be worth the few extra dollars..........Am I right?????

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If I were the Steelers, I don't give him a long term contract. The more I hear from him, the more I think as soon as he gets that mega contract he will probably gain 30 pounds and his effort level will become lackluster at best. Getting paid seems to be his one and only motivation. Let him get that cash from another team.

I’d take a chance on a Sony Michel/James Connor combo and trade Bell. As if that would ever happen.

Still I think it will play out same as last year without us being able to franchise him again. Also, think about it, after this year, Bell has TOPS 4 good years left in him. Probably more like 2-3. I’d rather not be tied to his contract.

Would love to see this if they don't plan on signing Bell long term.

Big fan of Sony Michel here. I'd be thrilled if we snagged him and ended this 2 year off-season drama bs.

Can they change his tag from exclusive to non-exclusive?

Love Bell's talent, but tired of the BS. $17M? That's a lot of money for a RB. Is he worth it? Maybe, but when you are asking for double of the highest paid back, I would have to walk away. That is not being a team player. It's being selfish. He should look out for himself, but be realistic. I hope he does it somewhere else next year and stop holding the Steelers hostage. Either you want to be here and build a winner or you don't really care about the team and are a Me First player.

I started hoping awhile ago after seeing Sony Michel and Nick Chubb run all over a few SEC Teams this past season that Michel got drafted by the Steelers. And team up with J.Connor if Bell's contract situation didn't work out. But we will see, stay tuned...

Funny how Bell is the one "holding us hostage" when we elected to tag him and hold him hostage. It's our right as per the CBA, but I'm sure he'd much rather be out there picking his own team and locking up 35m or so in guarantees.

I don't blame Bell at all.

The players have to look out for themselves. It would be great to think that guys will take a discount for the team but they're not fans like us. He'll get paid very well again and assuming he doesn't test positive again then someone will pay him many $$$$s because he has an incredibly impressive skill set. He just happens to be on a team that can't/won't afford him. We need to extend Ben and we can't do that, fix the D and pay everyone else.

I'd pay him $8M per year with an additional $9M bonus if we win the Superbowl. That way he can get his stingy hands on the $17M he covets.

That’s how contracts should work in a perfect world. It’s all about greed and ego with these kids. If he doesn’t feel “secure” with a multi year 13-14 million per year deal, then he needs to go rap.

So why dont Ben take a home town discount?

you don't think a team like Cleveland, Washington or Arizona wouldn't pay him $25M+ a year? His base salary will be $12M and $5M in bonus incentives. That's not bad for a 14 year vet with two rings.
