So how about drafting a SS at #20?

I know not the same deal
but what happened to Karl Joseph? thought he might make a roster spot

Hamilton will be gone hill from um could be good in mid round

First, you combine CB and S. Second, how many of those were 1st round picks? Artie Burnt and Terrell Edmunds.. THAT'S IT.

You realize that top-tier CB's usually go in the 1st round, right? So you're saying the Steelers should not take an elite CB (Gardner, Elam, McDuffie) because Terry Hawthorne, Antoine Brooks, Brian Allen, and Marcus Allen sucked? P.S. Tre Norwood, a 7th round pick, looked pretty good last season as a rookie and Sutton is a decent starting CB, taken in the 3rd round.

Maybe you should look at every other NFL team's history in drafting players 3rd round and later at any position. You will be shocked to learn that the vast majority don't turn out to be really good NFL players. A hell of a lot never play a down in the NFL in fact.
I was giving you the entire picture of whom they have developed… they are 0 for the tomlin era in drafting first round dbs… i can’t help it that we draft a lb every other year in the first…

My point is this: Steelers drafted a ****-ton of LBers in the 1st - Jones, Shazier, Dupree, Watt. Jones sucked, Shazier was ruined, Dupree took four years to develop, Watt is awesome from the word "Go."

Should we conclude that the Steelers are terrible at drafting LBers in the 1st? Wonderful? Mediocre? Blessed? Cursed?

Got better with each pick, it seems. So maybe the Steelers should take a 1st round CB for the second time since 1998.
