Cowher made more AFCCG's with Neil and Kordell than Tomlin did with a franchise QB.
Tomlin made 3 AFCCG's with Ben in 15 seasons, Cowher made 2 AFCCG's with Ben in 3 seasons.

Went to TWO AFCCG with Kordell, two with O'Donnell, and to a SB with O'Donnell. Also won a playoff game with Mike Tomczak at QB.

With Ben, 5-1 in the playoffs.

Anybody who thinks Tomlin is remotely as good as Cowher needs to wake up. Tomlin is a blowhard cheerleader, somebody whose best skill is preening on the sidelines while his vastly superior talent squeaks out another narrow win over a grossly overmatched opponent.

^^This! What us Steeler fans will be talking about when Coach Tomlin finally leaves the Steelers franchise, is how many AFCC championships and/or Superbowl's could the Steelers have won with a real head coach? The ol' "what could have been" haunting thought.

Or was it? I know Cowher was big on Andrews. Either way. I am glad they took Ben.

Yeah but did the chin have how many years of +.500?
 
Cowher was also great at hiring assistants. That is an underrated aspect of coaching. A confident coach hires strong coaches who innovate. An insecure coach hires mediocre talents because he doesn’t want anybody on staff that could challenge him. An insecure coach wants yes men and nobody on staff that could be seen as his replacement.

Cowher had Dom Capers, Dick Lebeau, Marvin Lewis, Jim Haslett, Chan Gailey, Bruce Arians, Kevin Gilbride, Mike Mularkey, Ken Whisemhunt. Both sides of the ball got head coaching jobs. He was always looking for bright coaches to make the team better.

Tomlin inherited a great staff but his hires are mostly terrible. Munchak was kind of a fish that jumped in the boat. Aside from that Daryl Drake as WR coach was probably his only good hire. He had Brian Flores for 1 season and let him walk. Because he didn’t want a guy like Flores in the building who could outshine him.

He hired Matt Canada because he was watching a Pitt game on tv and they had a good game vs Clemson.
