Something happened on the sidelines yesterday and I've personally never seen it happen with Tomlin.

So the Falcons go 80 yds, score a TD to pull within 7 points with 10:21 to go.

Offense had a couple 1st downs before the drive stalled........on the sideline Tomlin did something...something Cowher used to ...he gathered the entire secondary and he was laying into em.

Falcons get the ball back, plenty of time to tie it...but they went 3 and out....and the offense got the ball back...Falcons never saw the field again.

Im proud of Tomlin....he was fired up yesterday. He gathered part of the team and "did" something about it.

He topped it off by calling a pretty gutsy call on that 3rd & 1.

I've bashed Tomlin, wanted him gone but yesterday he had the team ready. I'm glad as well. Tomlin needs to know being a head coach of the Steelers there expectations...he might not feel pressure from the owner but the fans and the city will drive him out. With that being said he's been better.

To his credit the Steelers have cleaned up their football as well....I don't see a lot of flags.

He better have the team prepared, Chiefs are a good team...their defense is good.

I'm not trying to rain on your thread because it's pretty good stuff. I did hear this morning that Haley gave Ben a running play to Bell with the option to throw it. Ben picked the pass option. Game over! How much of it is true, who knows, but I was pleased to hear that Haley and Ben are working well together. They put the game away on a gutsy call.

O ok I didn't know that.

The way Tomlin was fired up about it I thought he was involved in the call.

Either way it worked....great execution on Ben and Millers part. Great play.

I totally agree, glad to see Tomlin was not a statue on the sidelines and getting involved in firing up his troops. Keep it going and beat KC!

Maybe the the team should not extend his contract too soon in order to keep it that way.

Apparently, Troy laid into the secondary after they let ATL get a touchdown. The commentators mentioned it but the cameras only got the last bit of it.

This would be the second time this year (that I personally know of) where Troy was yelling at the secondary. This tells me that for a mild-mannered, humble, unemotional guy like him to get pissed off means they really suck. Then there was the article posted here last week where he chose to mention the offense when interviewed to deflect attention from the defense. While the situation with the secondary is unfortunate, its nice to see someone on the team acknowledging what every fan knows and trying to do something about it.

lets go over this again... the CB corps have exactly zero guys picked above the 4th round, and that was Ike... When a team utterly ignores a position that badly for that long its bound to be a joke. i would like McCain and Blake as third or 4th CB options, much like Gay is best in that role, but we simply dont have a top 2 CB on this team... and the safeties are slow, so one hiccup and it is in the end zone. Tomlins singular greatest addition to the team was revamping the coverages behind the front seven. that is now rendered moot by lack of talent.

They're counting on jones and Worlids to provide a steady pass rush.....that didn't pan out as planned.

Glad to hear. While I've criticized him in the past for his clock management, in game adjustments, challenging, and motivation, the one thing I've liked is that he is not scared. We played scared to lose too many times under Cowher.

While I agree with the OP,,, I saw something I DIDNT like from Tomlin. After the Game sealing catch by Heath, Tomlin turned around faced the stands and Beat his chest with both hands.

I thought it was bush.

I hear ya, but you have to admit it was better than his usual stone-faced lack of emotion, or deer in the headlights disinterested look. It was almost like he gave a damn. This is new for him so cut him a break.

Eh, it was probably directed at Steeler fans. We had a good turnout there.

Gay is a starter in this league. Any team would take a CB that can deliver 3 pick 6s. He's a big reason why we won all of those games he had a pick 6 in.

I'm glad to see in quite a few of these games after the Bucs loss that he's going for the win vs. playing not to lose. I don't remember Cowher doing that much. Of course, Cowher had one of the best closers ever in Bettis..

He needs to lay into himself. He is a shell of his former self.

In general, you would expect the OC to be making the basic calls. The announcers mentioned in a previous game that Haley would give Ben two calls and let him decide on which to use based upon whatever the D is showing.

My gut clenched a little when I saw the pass, though. Glad it worked out.

with the number of steeler fans there, I'm guessing
he made that gesture toward Steelers fans and wasn't trying to show up Falcon fans.

When I saw it I thought he was celebrating being here next year because the needle is pointing up if you will. Now maybe if the camera had caught him just a bit sooner there might be more context with his actions.
