Something happened on the sidelines yesterday.....

Eh, it was probably directed at Steeler fans. We had a good turnout there.
I think you got it right Ron. Besides, if Tomlin wants to patrol the sidelines keeping the emo up and yanking groups together for a "Cowheresque" berating, if it produces results then who cares?

Huh?

That is the look one gets when talking to a complete dumb *** that has all of their grey matter tied up in life support.

He needs to lay into himself. He is a shell of his former self.

What exactly should he say? "Troy, stop getting old and slow, you need to will your body to be young and fast again!" The guy is playing with all the heart in the world, he's just lost a step. It happens to them all.

Our big weakness is Mitchell.

Mitchell actually played a decent game in coverage yesterday. Didn't bite on fakes and maintained his responsibilities. I still don't like him at FS.

I'm glad to see in quite a few of these games after the Bucs loss that he's going for the win vs. playing not to lose. I don't remember Cowher doing that much. Of course, Cowher had one of the best closers ever in Bettis..

Plus Cowher was somewhere near 120-1-1 when up by 10 or more points at anytime durring the game.

PS I too, like this "NEW" emotion on the sidelines.

I believe that stat was actually 11 or more points. Think Cowher had a few 10-point leads that got away (of course, if you coach long enough, that is bound to happen).

2 thoughts...
The last 2 games they finished with an aggressive play call and put the game away. We won both games.

Maybe, just maybe this team is responding to Coach cool shades actually showing some damn emotion and they step it up..

Yes, for sure. I just get a bit of a chuckle out of the whole thing...for awhile the stat was "Cowher never loses when his team gets a lead of 10 or more points." And then Cowher lost of couple of games where he had a 10-point lead so the stat was changed to "Cowher never loses when his team has a lead of at least 11 points." It just goes to show how obsessed our culture is with stats even though many of them seem pretty darn arbitrary.

No, I was thinking more on the lines of: "Troy stop launching yourself at people, and try wrapping them up. Stop flying around out of control. Stay in your lanes". "Ok, thanks me".

Secondary isn't great by any means but they seem to be working hard together to get better and it could be just enough to get us to the playoffs. We obviously are depending now more on the offense than the d. Which is new for us all it will be great to see how far this goes... Go stillers!!!

And it looked like ATL fans had started exiting early. I saw a lot of empty seats on TV by the middle of the fourth quarter. By the time the play in question happened, I would expect the Falcons fans were streaming for the exits while the Steeler fans (30-40% of the attendance, most likely) were still partying in the stands.

He's the best safety on the team at this point, and a legend. He doesn't have to tell himself ****.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Steelerfan again."

Troy launches himself at players to avoid a concussion from straight-on collisions.

Head-first into a runner's knees/thighs is not really the ideal way to avoid concussions. In fact, it's how he got most of the one's he's had in the past.

If you watch him try to take down a runner, he goes high, like he is going to rip their helmet off, that's what I meant by launching.

I think Tomlin beat his chest because he was telling Haley I want to know when you let Ben change a play from run to pass. I'm the coach here!!!

I hear yaz, I usually speak stats in a generality sense. You and I both know, some stats don't mean JACK.

Gay is a starter in this league. Any team would take a CB that can deliver 3 pick 6s. He's a big reason why we won all of those games he had a pick 6 in.

Gay had another pick 6 denied due to penalty, I do not remember which game it was

Something happened on the sidelines yesterday and I've personally never seen it happen with Tomlin.

So the Falcons go 80 yds, score a TD to pull within 7 points with 10:21 to go.

Offense had a couple 1st downs before the drive stalled........on the sideline Tomlin did something...something Cowher used to ...he gathered the entire secondary and he was laying into em.

Falcons get the ball back, plenty of time to tie it...but they went 3 and out....and the offense got the ball back...Falcons never saw the field again.

Im proud of Tomlin....he was fired up yesterday. He gathered part of the team and "did" something about it.

He topped it off by calling a pretty gutsy call on that 3rd & 1.

I've bashed Tomlin, wanted him gone but yesterday he had the team ready. I'm glad as well. Tomlin needs to know being a head coach of the Steelers there expectations...he might not feel pressure from the owner but the fans and the city will drive him out. With that being said he's been better.

To his credit the Steelers have cleaned up their football as well....I don't see a lot of flags.

/\ /\ /\ This. I blast Tomlin when he sucks, so it's only fair to give him kudos when he did his job well. The team is not as sloppy, more focused and doing less bone head things. I don't like that it took this long, but better late than never. If they find a way to win last 2, I think they could be a team that makes some noise in the post season.
