The Pittsburgh Steelers were on the good end of a phenomenal 2025 International showdown versus the Minnesota Vikings. Having the game in Dublin, Ireland meant a lot to the organization and Rooney family. While there won't be a game there in 2026, it appears as if the franchise is headed across the world once again based on new reports.

I think it would’ve been logical to play on the national sporting rivalry of Ireland - England. Shad tried to establish the Jags in the U.K. through Fulham F.C. They’ll fly the Union Jack. Hypothetically, Ireland’s surrogate would be the Steelers due to the Rooneys’ heritage and the late ambassador’s fondness for the place. They could build on that foundation. (Damn shame, Dan didn’t find a way to reunite the island. He could’ve sold merch from now till Armageddon.) Assuming this whole enterprise is within the by-laws, okayed by the agents of the shield and national powers to be, it could be some real pageantry.


Nota Bene: Bear in mind, the last fifty years of history between those two nations was a bit tumultuous. This would need to be handled diplomatically and with taste. If it is, it should be received in a similar manner.
