Steelers are trading for Jesse Davis (OL)

You opened a thread about our OL hoping it would be good news? I admire your optimism. Or your ability to type coherently while drunk!
Well yeah, hoping this Jesse Davis guy was gonna be what we were looking for, but it appears he's a bum too!

Jesse's best year was 2020, when he had only two penalties (one holding and one false start), and one sack allowed in over 1000 snaps. Seems to be better suited to play right guard.

At primarily RT last year, he allowed the 4th most pressures out of 215 qualified lineman. Yikes.

Not really sure how this guy fits or is going to improve the offensive line, unless they've given up on Dotson and Green. Maybe the plan is to move Daniels back over to left guard (where he had some success with the Bears), and insert Davis at RG? Problem is, Davis does nothing to solve the main issue here: Dan Moore at left tackle.

Flores must of given this trade a thumbs up or suggested it in the first place. Davis played for Flores a couple years in Miami.
That's the only thing I can think as everyone in Minnesota thinks he sucks and they got a steal getting a 7th-round pick for him. I still think they should have brought Leatherwood in. 1 year is not enough to write a 1st round guy off, especially with how bad our line is.

True does nothing to solve T. But if he solidifies G that is something. Because Dots repetitive injuries and Greens fortitude of suck made it an iffy situation at G at best. So it the problem now is mainly LT well you can deal with that a little better than having multiple line issues. I still think Moore can improve he isn't athletically void of that possible. Still think they should be looking for another tackle but that is a wait and see I guess.

Move Chuks to LT
Slide Moore into LG
Keep Cole at C
Keep Daniels at RG
Slide Davis in at Rg/T (new 6th position)
Put Haeg in at RT (call him TE eligible)

Even with this 6 man OL I’m not too confident

Or really shake things up

Keep Moore at LT
Flip Daniels to LG
Add Hassenauer in as C2
Cole as C1
Flip Dot to RG
Keep ChuKs at RT

Play exclusively from pistol or shotgun
Don’t set the line down (keep ‘em a yard off the ball), read the D then set the OL with either C1 or C2 snapping the ball giving a heavy side to the OL after reading the D

At any rate with this group I don’t see any way to operate with less than 6 OL out there so they gonna need to figure something crazy out to compensate

Or maybe just another tongue lashing will get the job done, OBVIOUSLY that was effective.

Do not move Chuks to LT. He had several years there and was worse than Moore in the preseason last year (if that's even possible). Chuks just couldn't grasp the LT position at all. He is average to below average on the right side. Leave him there. The new guy from Miami/Minnesota should get a shot at LG. Greene can't cut it. Dotson has been injured and hasn't been able to improve or even get stable yet. Give the new guy some No. 1 reps with Dotson in practice and see if he can beat him out. Someone even average next to Moore will make Moore better as he won't have to worry about the guy sucking next to him as well.

or, get radical and cut Green to bring Leatherwood in.
at least Leatherwood has the size to play on the line.

Haeg was cut

possibly the worst player on the roster at this point
stupid trade. stupid to cut Haeg and Leglue, then trade for this sack of ****.

Why sign a productive free agent on cut down day when you can trade for a sorry sack of ****?

If they don't do anything drastic they need to use an extra TE to help with pass pro. Knowing Tomlin things will stay status quo and our QBs will get killed. We can bring whoever in, but if Tomlin doesn't play them it doesn't matter. Look at Miller last year. Our WRs struggled and he basically sat on the bench. No idea why he was not given a shot

I honestly can’t name a worst starting olineman than Green we have ever had. Even with Tomlin calling him out he still sucked.

Tomlin needs another approach. Maybe he should try and find out what person or event in Bush's past most angered him.
