The Pittsburgh Steelers added a receiver to their empty room today. The Steelers claimed former Notre Dame stud, and Baltimore Ravens failed draft choice Myles Boykin.

NFL Network report Mike Garafolo reported that the Steelers claimed Boykin off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens this afternoon.

The Ravens reportedly were shopping Boykin, but couldn’t find any takers before releasing him. Pittsburgh will reunite Chase Claypool, and Boykin who played together for the Fighting Irish before Boykin left for the NFL in 2019.

STAY TUNED MORE TO COME

good jarb, Colmlin!

Good pick-up. Should be able to replace Washington. We still need to draft a WR with speed and I’m thinking John Metchie III. Then we also have Anthony Miller who would do nicely taking Ray Rays snaps at WR, and we have Gunner to handle Ray Rays return duties.

Here is the thing he only has to upgrade Washington (shouldn't be a difficult task provided he can stay healthy). As we got a RayRay clone as a returner. The rookie (whoever he is) will have to upgrade Juju. And let's be honest the recent version is a lot easier to upgrade.

I look at any rats WR as an unknown because they are handcuffed with a RB playing QB. So there is a decent chance as long as the Oline doesn't get Mitch killed that the group is on their way to being a better version of last year's corps.

His signing makes it so the Steelers only have to draft one WR and another pick can be used elsewhere to fill another need. A lost cost audition. With any luck him and Claypool will feed off each other and improve...

Meh i wish tge kid well, but I don’t think he makes the roster with his cap hit… the guy has athletic ability for sure, but he still gets molested with press coverage and can’t seem to figure out how to consistently get separation…. Assuming they draft a kid and DJ doesn’t hold out, i think that 2.5 million price tag is an anchor that will drag him off the team

To be honest- I like the signing. Potentially 4 of the bodies in the receiving room is possibly Johnson, Claypool, Miller and Boykin. Not a bad squad with Boykin and Miller coming with experience with a scrambling quarterback.

So, some stats, video links, combine numbers?
Much appreciated

I wonder if they try to renegotiate that salary with him possibly not making the roster. 2.5mil is pretty cheap for an experienced WR who didn't get a fair QB shot as he had a RB throwing to him..

Salute the nation

agreed, but I'd still love to see us draft 2 WR's.

One in rounds 1-3 and hopefully a diamond in the rough in 4-7, competion would be good for that group and hopefully Colbert has a couple more home runs to hit drafting WR's, we seem to as good a value or better drafting WR in late rounds than anything else

Ok, I understand last year he lost more than half the season due to injury right?
Yes, so let's say he amassed that in two years then... He had 1206 career receiving yards with 872 yards his senior season at ND with 11 career TDs, 8 of those came his senior season. If he can consistently reproduce 50% of his senior season at ND for that price that would be a win.
