Former head coach Mike Tomlin decided to step down following the 2025 season, which was reported the day after his team was eliminated from the postseason. The organization immediately conducted a head coaching search to find the team's fifth head coach in the last 60 years, and the franchise landed on Mike McCarthy. This bucked a lot of trends that the franchise has followed in hiring a head coach, as McCarthy is older and an offensive-minded leader.
