Steelers Doing Due Diligence On 2022 QB Class

If by mobile they mean a guy like Mahomes or Watson great, im all for it

If they want a Lamar Jackson they are fooling themselves

A qbs first priority is passing… get a guy good at passing who can move around if needed… im slightly worried that they will focus more on the running than the passing

I'm in your boat as well, no run first QB, ever.

Salute the nation

one guy who seems to have fallen off the face of the earth is Nevada's Carson Strong (6'4", 215).
what's he done this season?

289 completions
410 attempts
3,197 yards
25 TDs
7 INTs

is he mobile?

makes Kent Graham look like Kordell Stewart

33 rushes
-123 yards
0 TDs
In fairness to Strong, for some reason they count sacks as quarterback rushes in college football. Pickett is very mobile, for example, yet he only has averaged 2.0 yards per "rushing attempt" in his career. Strong surely isn't a running QB, but he can move around ably in the pocket.

My problem with Pickett is that he's probably maxed out. He'll probably kick around the NFL for 12+ years as a starter and backup. Maybe he can be good but he may just be a guy like Kirk Cousins. Cousins is decent but if i'm drafting a QB, i'm swinging for the fences.

I'd rather take a shot on Bo Nix. Bo Nix might be the next Jake Locker or the next Justin Herbert. Nix was completely wasted in the Malzahn offense. I felt Herbert was somewhat limited in Oregon's as well but not as badly. Nix would be a project but at least he has the skill set to possibly be special.

Id only take a shot at pickett if he drops into the second round… im a little scared of the hand size thing, though I guess those gloves offset it… im just not sure that I would spend a first on him.. need more data…

The way this season is going, we are going to be picking in the middle of the pack, at best and probably in the back half of the 1st round once again. We won't be getting one of the top QB's in this class, which there really aren't many. Whoever we pick might be more of a reach. I would actually expect the Steelers to pick the BPA at an area of need and it won't be a QB in the back half of the 1st round.

Maybe, but the second half of the season gets tougher, if not brutal, so the pick could be higher than it appears now.
Even so, I agree with them drafting the BPA and that likely will not be a QB.

Im just saying that this batch of qbs seems meh… don’t draft a meh qb high … it screws you down the road

Recent history shows they're satisfied with a .500 team, so you may be right in your assessment.

The standard is ***** in seats, as long as that happens, mediocrity is A ok.

OL, DL, DB and it appears LB are in order. Also, WR (Not just a speed guy either since our "great" WR corp starts coming up for contract extensions soon and I'm not sure I'd be giving big money to any of them.)

Not sure what our biggest need is but I would think DL might be at the top depending on what happens in free agency. We have Heyward for another couple years. I am not sure what is going on or will go on with Tuitt. We really have no one else. I would love that big NT but all the pundits keep saying no one needs a NT anymore.

I'm not sure there's a true first rounder in the bunch. We'll see if the position value inflates the value of the players in the draft.

Big game tonight with Pickett vs. Howell.
