You could've said the same of Marino who was passed on 26 times. Brady was passed on by every team multiple times. I can’t declare that Sanders or Dart or Shough or whoever will be good, bad or average and neither can you.Who’s the Dan Marino in this scenario? Don’t say the Sanders kid because 32 teams have passed on him………………….
I think Marino was passed on for off the field concerns and I suspect, in part, Sanders was as well, one of those being his father.I’m not Taking nothing away from the Dan Marino, here’s the flip side of that
Many think that Marino would have instantly raised the bar for the Steelers, very possible. Also remember that the Steelers were in a tough / nose bleed / physical division, who’s to say he wouldn’t have gotten hurt / banged up. Our system wasn’t designed for the Marino as opposed to the Miami system being more compatible.
Pointing out the similarities of the Steelers needs of 1983 and today, what they did with the picks and hoping for different result isn’t dissing on the pick.YES, I would have taken the Marino back then, but that was 42 years ago and no bearing on today’s game. Are you saying Sanders is the next Marino, I think not.
All this is speculation and just a flip side.
Moral to the post “Don’t lower our standards by dissing on a 1.21 draft pick before he even gets a chance to play”
The moral of any draft post “Everyone is mostly wrong about the draft and almost every pick, to some extent, is a mistake.” It’s silly to get overly excited or overly angry about any pick.
