By Brandon WallaceSteelerNation.com PITTSBURGH, PA – As promised per Head Coach Mike Tomlin Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers are moving forward with their plan to solidify their kicker position.* Kai Forbath*has played for Washington, New Orleans, and most recently, Minnesota. He is 169/180 all-time at XP, and 116/135 in FG’s (with a long of 57 yards). […]

I won’t be surprised if they sign Kai. We seem to like former Redskin kickers like Suisham.

This should have been done 4 weeks ago. I dont understand the purpose of Boz being in the competition. So if they kick a bunch of kicks in practice and he is the best, you trot him out there again? Really. I dont understand in the NFL if I'm prepared to pay a guys salary for the season that I have to release him. I would like to give Boz another chance next year.

Imo boz is gone. To say what Tomlin has said and bring in kickers,. Boz is already packing his locker.

I will bet that on Sunday, Boz will still be kicking for the Steelers. Either that or he will develop a mystery injury and placed on IR. I don't see the Steelers eating that contract.

They ate woodleys. I think they know they can't afford to lose games due to a kicker who can't hit extra points. It's been going on all season. He is worst in the league this year.

I said it in another thread somewhere. The purpose for Boz competing is so that when Boz wins the competition, Tomlin can state that he addressed the kicking issue and keep the status quo.

If they want another kicker, they likely find a reason to put Boz on injured reserve. I think they want him to compete for the position in 2019.
If he is released, we eat 4 to 5 million in dead cap space that could be used for a 2019 free agent.

I hope one of them is better. Probably right on the IR for Bozworth and salary cap implications. Either way I want us to get those XPs & FGs as they do make a difference.

Salute the nation

I wonder if we will be able to see the winning kicker with our naked eyes ?

So question for Tomlin since Boz is included in the tryout. Would if he beats out the other guys? So then Boz is our new kicker?? Yikes!!!!

Mike Weaver from wake forest is still out there, undrafted and under rated. He's also a really good friend of mine, so there might be extra motivation for wanting him to get a chance.

Yeah but he didn't weaver his way in for a tryout so...

If Boz has a hat Sunday you might as well just line up for 2. Odds at this point bout the same.

Kicker Chris Boswell signed a five-year, $19.72 million deal through the 2022 season, and linebacker Vince Williams signed a four-year contract through 2021 worth $20.6 million.

but we couldn't pay Bell a little extra to sign

Boz will be kicking for his job. That is a ton of pressure. If he is able to beat out the other kickers then it might be what is needed to straighten his head out. We have gotten pretty lucky into making no name or cast off kickers good here. I think this competition should have happened way earlier in the season, but I say let the best man win and whoever that is put him out there on sunday.

I could give a **** what Boz does in practice, he sicks when the lights go on and don;t blame the field for the last FG miss. His last stride on the FG was way past the ball and would have hooked if it was not blocked, he is done.

Guy wanted a lot extra. The kicker money is dumb though.

Besides it's the coaches and defense that's the problem. Ain't no way those guys are championship level.

The Steelers could have offered Bell an addition $5 million per year and he probably would have decided it wasn't enough. That dude was all over the place when it came to his new contract.

Good point Spike. Seems like a lot of wasted damn money and cap space.

Who ever looked at Vince Williams and said he is good and we should extend him and give him 20 million dollars ? he wouldn;t start foe another decent defense in this league, he is slow stupid and misses a ton of tackles.,
