Read article on here Beanie Bishop having to travel to his college to work out. Like WTF. This is a 6 billion franchise. What would a new state of the art facility cost. 10 million. That's one player lost to injury. Grow up and get off the wallet. It can't all go to Tomlin. You Pittsburgh taxpayers better get ready. Gonna be a huge renovation or rebuild of the stadium. Take the reno.

It is written that the visitor locker room smells like urine.

Fyi the NFL and the Steelers have low key started the push to get a new taxpayer stadium again... its been quietly been ramping up for a couple years now

All this facility nonsense and leaked issues they supposedly have had is leading to that...

Every time i see these articles, i remember how it was leading up to them illogically scrapping 3 rivers... because the NFL thinks they need to get free taxpayer **** every 25 to 30 years now...

Im just putting this here now... id rather the steelers move cities than spend one more dime on a new stadium and/or new facilities... the NFL makes plenty of money...
The nfl is so transparent on this **** too... it all happens around the same time

Most college facilities are WAY nicer than NFL facilities. With that said, the Steelers should have a practice facility that rivals those like we see in the SEC. The problem is they are landlocked and share the space with Pitt (which I did hear they would be kicking Pitt out eventually).

They did hire David Morehouse, so they definitely have big plans in the works. Mad, not sure about the luck they'll have with a new stadium. There's really no need for one and I think they'll instead do what Baltimore and Cincinnati plan and go with major upgrades. They sent out a survey to ticket holders asking about luxury seating options. We'll also be clear that any upgrades are only going to affect luxury and club seats, nothing really for the regular fans.

We are looking at it the wrong way. Should colleges, when they have a lot of students struggling to pay for it, have better facilities than NFL teams?

When I went to PSU in the mid 80s, I could work and actually pay for most of college. I walked out of there with no loans. I didn't have much to start real life with, but no loans to pay off. Kids don't have a pray of doing that today. I'm not sure it was supposed to be that way while the football program builds state of the art facilities.

This was what I was thinking. Stadium coming on 25 years. The complaining starts. You valuation has gone up from under a billion to 6 in that time. Fix it yourselves. Same here. Tgey want a billion dollar arena complex. Tgey don't even have any level of pro hockey. Like **** off.

The football players are going for free and are also getting play for pay money.

The football program also brings in 100+ million in revenue each year. Tuition is outrageous but football is definitely not the issue

For who? That money doesn't do a damn thing to reduce tuition rates. It's akin to when professional teams want a new stadium and part of holding the city hostage tell everyone how it will help local businesses. I have seen studies to suggest that is way over blown.

Same here, and while trying not to be political, this all started when the Feds began guarantying student loans = tuitions skyrocketed.

Okay, you're right The tuition the students pay is too high because The Football program is operating at a loss and the they make up for that with inflated tuition.
Got it

At least we get free tickets and beer at the games in exchange for our generous contribution

Correct.

Some uninformed asswipes also complain when James Franklin visits recruits in a helicopter -- like it's costing them taxpayer money or something. In 2023, Penn State football generated $110 million in revenue against a $63 million budget, of which less than $3 mill was spent on recruiting.

People generally don't know what the f**k they're talking about.

Did any of that $57 million profit do a thing to reduce tuition rates?

Look, I enjoy college football, but higher education was not designed for young people to go have debt for years while football coaches make $10 million a year and millions is spent on football facilities. It just wasn't. Granted, there are a lot of young people that probably shouldn't be there. I probably shouldn't have been when I went in 1980s at first. But I could still work and pay for it while my dumb *** figured it out. I also know that one reason tuition is so high is because the government got involved in the student loan business, like Zona stated.

I just don't think it's a good look. I just wonder if Teddy Roosevelt, who "saved" college football back in 1905, would see it now what he would think.

Btw, no where am I saying tuition rates are high because so much money is spent on the football programs. Nowhere have I made that assertion. I am questioning whether this amount of a commitment to athletics is the way it should be, or the way it was intended.
