Steelers Initial Depth Chart Released

You hit the nail on the head. Especially the part about switching back to Trubisky if they aren't ready to move on from him.
 
Here is one way to look at what the team may be trying to do in their weird way of looking at things sometimes. They take the fan heat off of Mitch by making Rudolph his backup and Kenny who doesn't get a helmet silences the home crowd if Mitch starts throwing picks and plays bad or sub par. Its a way to take some of that pressure off of Mitch at the same time not rushing Kenny to play. Just a thought! Sounds like Tomlin all the way! The guy plays too many head games anyway. Not like the crowd will be yelling to bring in Mitch!

Pickett is said to be pro ready and looked the part. I see no reason they need to bury him on the depth chart.

I've been reading articles from these pundits and they're just stirring up the fan base. I've re-watched the pre-season games and Kenny looks pretty good but he's a bit slow making reads and delivering timing routes which is expected of a Rookie. The difference between Mason and Kenny coming off the bench is the playbook. With Mason, you'll have the full playbook at the OC's fingertips and with Kenny, it'll be diluted quite a bit. The same thing happened with Ben's rookie year with more and more plays added as he became comfortable.
 
I also have to agree with Slash. Kenny is 24 not a 21 year old who only played 2-3 years of college ball. He’s as ready as any rookie QB coming out so to stick him at #3 is goofy. I knew but hoped to be wrong that Tomlin would find a way to screw it up. Mason should have been traded for a future draft pick, Kenny should be the backup, and we should have a QB on the PS to develop into a backup.
Talk about living in your fears, that’s all the blowbag Tomlin does. He’s already said he would not go with a rookie QB so Kenny never really had a chance. Sounds to me you do indeed live in your fears Tomlin. You don’t have the guts to start Kenny or even make him the backup.
 
The football gods are smiling on Pickett! If canada and tomlin gave chosen to start trubisky you know well it’s the wrong call and Pickett will come off the bench save us and add to “the legend of kenny“. trubiski has played well yes, but this nfl you have to play great! those six Super Bowl trophy’s didn’t just walk into the building and jump up on the shelf cuz it they thought it’d a nice spot to be! it took great legendary effort to Win those. All this “trubisky is the safe choice“ is loser Talk! Trubisky doesn’t really trust his arm, he held the ball and took sacks in preseason. this will catch up to him, the young line, and the Steelers. kenny is a 5th year senior he’s ready now he actually looks like he was born ready! born to be a Steeler! get a pair coach and start him! GoSteelers! This is the only time I‘ll voice this opinion. Season starts I don’t like a bunch of negative bs I’m a dance with who brough ya kinda guy. Go Mitch, go coach Tomlin, even go Canada, but mostly Go Pittsburgh Steelers!! The team and city I love so well!!!

They're retiring Franco's #32 me thinks.

I'm highly surprised that Wallace couldn't beat out Sutton for the outside CB position. Sutton is fine at Nickel CB but doesn't have the speed for playing outside, imho.

Just another move to temper fan expectations

If KP were QB2 some idiots would start chanting Kenny,Kenny before T-biscuit even started struggling

If he is inactive as QB3, not as much of that BS

With limited reps each week as the backup probably a bit more confident in the 5 year guy too.

Knew Bush would have every chance to continue proving his downward trend of suck on the field too

About the only real bit of news there is Sutton 2 instead of slot, would’ve went with Wallace personally

1. Too many beat writers have the "smartest guy in the room" attitude when they aren't.
2. Umm, I was told last year Mason was held back against the Lions because the game plan was limited to Ben's playbook.

**** when Ben wasn't proficient with his playbook he seemed to do pretty well...

I just don't see this happening, he is on his 3rd team for a reason. On a 3rd team without a history of developing a single remedial QB.
 
Took a ****** Bears team with a shifty Coach and OC to playoffs ✅

Sat behind one of the best QBs in the league learning from an allegedly good OC and received solid reviews there ✅

Don’t see any reason he couldn’t ball out here other than another ****** OC (which he has experience dealing with ****** OCs from time with Bears) or a complete POS OL…guess the jury is out on what he could actually do here…at the least hopefully he keeps KP from getting wrecked in a less than desirable situation for any QB and at the most…

Playoffs??? Playoffs??? Did you say playoffs???
