Steelers Insiders Believe Hakeem Butler May Have A Slim, But Realistic Path To Make The Team In 2023

The Pittsburgh Steelers' depth at wide receiver has been discussed extensively this offseason. In all likelihood, the group of Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Allen Robinson, and Calvin Austin III will be the team's top four going in to 2023. Assuming the Steelers decide to keep six receivers on their roster, there will be competition amongst players such as Miles Boykin, Anthony Miller, Gunner Olszewski, Cody White, and Hakeem Butler for the final two spots.

Really curious to what was Butler's downfall. Why his path took the route that it did from NFL to XFL to back again. I don't view it as an uphill battle due to depth. Besides the top 4, I see no check marked boxes. Gunner is Madonna border lining, Miller can't stay out of the hot tub, Boykin is more special teams and less special elsewhere. Cody is just meh. I would say the only think potentially blocking Butler from the final 53 is well Butler.

Boykin is a special teams ace, and I think they will keep him too, so basically Butler just has to win that last spot. There will be a ton of competition for it

I see that as well slash, Butler makes the 53, worse case practice squad swing player.
