Steelers' Mike Tomlin Sends A Strong Message To George Pickens After Bengals Game

Previous game against browns yeah, he mismanaged everything. This last game there's not a real reason to go all karen on him like you are
Everyone is going Karen on Pickens

Pickens is why we are 9-3

some of you guys are hilarious. huge division win, leading the division, but you ***** about the small stuff. it is your right to live your life the way you want to of course, but man, enjoy a little.
The small stuff? Tell that to Matt Eberflus.
He literally just got fired for clock/timeout mismanagement that costed the Bears the game.

We can enjoy a win and still point out stupid mistakes.

I do not have the inside like some of you guys seem to. But I would assume if he was 9-3 he would jot have been fired. Might be wrong

Coaches who don't a playoff game for 7 years are fired 99% of the time in the NFL, anywhere else he'd rightfully already be gone

I really like Pickens. That's probably why it's upsetting to see some of this stuff going on after almost 3 years.

The good part i see is his teammatesand coach talking to him. I'm sure there's more off the field.

You have to get everyone in on the goal and not being detrimental toward that goal. I'm rooting for him. I'm rooting for all of them, including the coaches.

Pickens is...
7th in yards with 850
25th in receptions with 55
14th in YPC with 15.5
3rd in receptions of 20+ with 16

He's on pace for a career high in receptions and yards. His lack of discipline is frustrating, but he stepped up this season. I'm not sure if he'll ever be that high volume WR1, but he's still one of the best playmakers in the NFL and hopefully he'll clean things up after this week.
Where does he rank in targets?
That would be a great stat to add some frame of reference to those stats.

We are definitely run heavy and he’s one of the only reasons a defense backs up/ has stay honest with safeties.

Without him imo our frequently predictable offense becomes very easily stoppable. The good thing about GP is when he isn’t doubled he’s open, period. Just chuck it into his zip code. He/ or a game breaker WR is necessary to avoid stacked boxes every play…and we’ve witnessed how hard it is to get a game breaking receiver here in free agency or via trade. Good thing we have 1.

The bad thing is the occasional taunting penalty as he has a touch of unpredictable in him and may react poorly from time to time. His production and what he brings far outweighs the occasional penalty he draws. He’s contributing to winning far more than losing and wouldn’t be easily replaced.

He’ll likely never be that high volume receiver in this offense (as you stated) so odds are he chooses to move on to a team with a viable QB and passing attack and it will be a non-issue come contract time as it takes two to tango and he’ll probably choose a better place to show off his crazy and his his crazy skill set.

Assuming you discount Hines Ward and Antonio Brown, of course.
That wasn't Tomlin's offense. That was Ben. His last two years and since it's what Tomlin wants. We're just not gonna see a 12-15 target game for one receiver.
