Steelers one of worst teams after a bye

If they do Tomlin's teams usually do, they will come out unfocused, uninspired, listless and feckless.

I don't have the stats but a commentator on the NFN Network said that Tomlin Steeler teams have a bad record coming off a bye.

That is a direct result of a head coach who can't/won't keep the team focused heading off a bye week. That is VERY telling. A good coach would
have the team better prepared than ever, with an extra week to plan and get players healed.

This team BETTER not show up feckless, or fans should rightfully throw a fit. Cool Shades relies on the players getting focused on their own. If it
were that easy, why even have a head coach?

Not only are the Steelers a paltry 12-7 but it's often against weak teams to boot. NE is 22-4, Philly is 15-3.

If Pgh comes out flat, that is on the head coach, period.

A .631 winning percentage is just plan horrible.
 
That is 64.3% since 2007. Since 2003, the rate is 63.2%.

What does that tell you about 2003-2006?
 
Teams that benefit most from byes are "scheme" teams. That's why Andy Reid is near unbeatable after a bye. Because he uses the time to self scout then he comes out with a surprising gameplan that breaks tendencies.

Under Tomlin, the steelers have always been more performance driven, meaning they go how their stars go. That have also been a team of momentum. They get on a roll. The bye stops that and it's almost like it re-sets them to week 1 and they have to build that momentum again.

I hope they break the trend this Sunday and don't come out feckless. But you nailed it.
 
Well, since this is Tomlin's 12th year in Pittsburgh, and he's only had 11 games following a bye week thus far, I figured that those 12-7 and 9-5 records were bullshit (as is so often the case around here). So, for the sake of accuracy, I took a few minutes and researched it myself. These are the results during Tomlin's tenure:

2007: week 6 bye, lost to Denver 28-31
2008: week 6 bye, beat Cincinnat 38-10
2009: week 8 bye, beat Denver 28-10
2010: week 5 bye, beat Cleveland 28-10
2011: week 11 bye, beat Kansas City 13-9
2012: week 4 bye, beat Philadelphia 16-14
2013: week 5 bye, beat New York Jets 19-6
2014: week 12 bye, lost to New Orleans 32-35
2015: week 11 bye, lost to Seattle 30-39
2016: week 8 bye, lost to Baltimore 14-21
2017: week 9 bye, beat Indianapolis 20-17

Tomlin's record after a bye week is 7-4 (.636), or the closest percentage he could have to his career mark (.657) for an 11-game sample.

Either way, .636 is quite a bit off of, "one of the worst".
