Steelers place the right of first refusal tender on AA Ron.

I will not be happy if Rodgers comes in and signs. He’s setting this franchise back by not allowing the team to truely evaluate the young QBs.
Just remember last season when he faced good teams and it wasn't pretty. Harder schedule this year is only going to make it more difficult
Not only that, I worry about him setting back Roman Wilson once again.and now the new kid Bernard. He’d rather have his familiar scrubs around him. I think this just continues to delay the inevitable of a rebuild that’s long overdue.

I think it is the next step in the rebuild. We didn't bring in his retreads last year at WR. He holds receivers accountable to doing their jobs. If Roman can't make the right reads he isn't doing any QB any favors. I would rather have the youngsters learn another season behind a vet before being thrown to the wolves like the Clowns do and ruin them.

MVS is absolutely one of his retreads, and he went to him 3 straight plays at the goal line. Yeah he likes to yell and scream on TV, but what about when he's the one messing up all the time, that's the problem. Had DK wide open early vs Houston and he air mailed it because he had happy feet. Who did Jaxson Dart learn from, or Bo Nix, or Drake Maye or Josh Allen, just because Mahomes sat behind Alex Smith or Rodgers behind Favre, doesn't mean that's a must. What's Rodgers going to teach them, how to throw the ball in 2 seconds, then yell at everyone else.

That's a good point, but as this past year wore on,most fans could see Rodgers just wasn't that good vs the good teams, vs the teams you're going to have to beat in the playoffs, going from playing a depleted Lions D and a Ravens D that just wasn't that good this year because of injuries, then to a top tier team like Houston, Rodgers looked like he aged 10 years.
Told ya.....

I heard he’s pretty good at drawing defenses off-sides……………..

I hear yaz Coryea. Tomlin’s gaff at QB is still costing us to this day.

The bright side is we have 2-new upcoming QBs, something Tomlin never had.

Maybe this is the last year of rotation to get out of the by-gone clutch of the past coaching staff.

I realize Tomlin brought in Howard, but once the injury was healed and he could practice Tomlin delegated him to the scout team…… essentially canceling any type of developement for the rest of the season.

Salute the nation

The extra cap space without ARod on the roster will also help fix holes. All part of Project 2027.
I fully expected a couple trades in the previous draft to get future picks in 2027. With all those extra picks I thought it would be a certainty. As usual,I was wrong. Which of course doesn’t mean what they didn’t do was right. 😁😉

Couldn’t disagree with you more. Rodgers isn’t the one holding the franchise back. The decision makers are.

I said during the hiring of the coach process my biggest fear was they would hire big Mike so that Aaron would comeback. There wasn’t even a rumor of Mike interviewing with anyone else ( correct me if I’m wrong).

I could go on and on. Last season they put themselves in the corner by not being proactive. They never seriously made Darnold an offer. They had Jackson 🎯 sitting there. Waiting to be in the Black & Gold. And they ******* passed. All this QB talk would have been mute. He would be our #1 this season. He could have played behind Rodger’s last season already.

I had no problem with Rodgers coming in last season because let’s face it,he was the best choice left. And there was a curiosity factor. I think he did exactly what I expected. To a T. Just like all their other aged out FA veterans that used to be stars did.
Just like they did when they got Russ Wilson and Fields. Just like they’re about to do again. Going backwards instead of forward. It’s the decision makers.

All that can be true, and you can still dislike Rodgers.

I really wish we had a better QB option, but we truly do not. Rogers at least knows how to read a defense and can get the ball out and on target more often than not. With better options at WR and a revamped OL the offense should be better than last season.

I expect 9-11 wins, a first round thumping in the playoffs (if we luck out and make it), and a #20 pick in the '27 draft.

My post was strictly dealing with the narcissist known as Aaron Rodgers. Of course I did not mention Art Rooney II as being the one man that has held this franchise back for years now.
Refusing to rebuild, holding on to aging veterans, chasing an old washed up QB. I’ve said that many times on this board that Art is the problem.
Rodgers is a waste of time and will only impede any progress of the young guys.

So.....next year we'll go into 2027 with 2 young unproven QB's (unless Rodgers gets hurt)? Awesome, that'll be year 6 with zero idea who the future QB will be. Do we trade up in round 1 and grab a QB then, giving us 3 young unproven guys? Does that mean we go out and sign Joe Flacco, because he'd give us the best chance to win?
One would think finding out ASAP what you have on your roster at the most important position would be best for business.

How aren't more people pissed that he didn't bother showing up for any offseason stuff yet when every other QB has, yeah he's real passionate about this team and football. As a competitor you'd think you want to get back asap after that embarrassment that was the playoffs, not Rodgers, he's just happy if everyone is talking about him.

Bringing this narcissist back adds zero value to this football team.
Go with Mason see how he performs. If after half the season you see little progress, turn it over to Howard. Give him game experience and see how he performs. Get to mid December and you’re out of it, finish the season with Allar. Get an idea with real game experience to see if it makes sense to continue developing the young guys.
A losing season! So ******* what! I can live with it and I can live with top ten pick with the possibility of moving up to select a franchise QB if you don’t think the other two on the roster fit that bill.
It’s really ok to have a losing season or two to rebuild your roster. We’re not going to lose our team or the fans.
That’s how we got Terry Bradshaw, Joe Greene, Ben Rothlisberger. Bad seasons reap great players at times and it worked out here.
Aaron Rodgers cannot play against the better teams any longer. The Houston game should have told you everything you needed to know.
I don’t want him back. Go with what we have.

I get the "Steelers don't need Rodgers" because he is simply delaying the competition between Howard and Allar.

I don't get the "Go with Mason and see how he performs" for three reasons:
1) Steelers have already seen this and let Rudy walk
2) Steelers could have done this last year and chose Rodgers
3) How does this evolve tge future QB decision between Howard or Allar any differently than if Ayahuasca A-Ron drops into town for the next 6 months?

If the need is get on with Howard vs Allar competition, get it on already.

I feel much more comfortable with McCarthy and his coaches making this evaluation vs the former staff.

Well number one, these three want to be here. Rodgers would rather be playing with his imaginary wife.
Between the three on the roster Mason only because of his experience would be listed number one followed by Howard and then Allar.
If Howard can supplant Mason in training camp, by all means let’s roll with the kid coming out of the gate. Let’s get a true evaluation of Howard then.
You get into mid December and Howard just looks like a backup then insert Aliar to finish up the last few games to see if he’s made any progress.
Rodgers brings little value at this point. Maybe another nine or ten wins , maybe. Then we draft at 20,21 again. No thanks.

We need to see ota outcomes.

I don't wish for injuries to players, but enough of this ****. I hope he never sees the field if we sign him and the only way that happens is with an injury.

OTA's are starting soon. Assuming he is signing, he needs to be there. He also needs to meet separately with the WR's for a weekend of getting more in sync and bonding as he did last year. Last year he signed somewhere around June 5th. I'm assuming he met the WR's after that but I could be wrong.

I completely agree on Rodgers.

I don't see the point to wasting more time with Rudy as starter--same logic as Rodgers--so why do you want this career backup, the Steelers have already discarded once, as a cheap starter? Since we don't mind the worse record if Howard starting doesn't work, what is the point of Rudy as starter?
Howard, Allar, Howard, Allar, etc until.one works out or draft 2027
