Steelers place the right of first refusal tender on AA Ron.

Do you know if it was confirmed he actually visited?

I’d heard he was to be there Thursday night (no show), then it turned to the weekend…………..?
According to Gerry Dulac, Rodgers was in Pittsburgh over the weekend, but did not come to the facility. Apparently he is still in town, and the Steelers are currently in talks with his agent.

If this is coming down to a dispute over money, which seems to be the case, I wish the Steelers would just tell Aaron to pound sand. Give me a break with this guy trying to negotiate a big contract at his advanced age. He's made nearly 400 million dollars in his career. That's in NFL salary alone, so with his endorsements, Rodgers is probably approaching HALF A BILLION in earnings. Get the F out of here with this nonsense.

Fully agree topseed, I don’t want Aaa-Ron at all, but if he is signed and becomes a Steelers player, he will garner my full support.

This whole situation isn’t all just Aaa-Ron’s fault, the Steelers have some bear in it as well.

What would a satisfactory pay raise be ? I think he finished 20th in the league last year(just a memory thing). Where does that place him in pay…….. but that isn’t the whole story, his age should be considered as well.

Myself, 17-19 mil would be about my max. Pay offer with a % of play involved contingency.

Call me crazy,……… but

In town for the entire weekend+ and doesn't show his face. Please do not sign him. Let Howard and Allar battle it out for QB1 and QB2 for the next 2 to 3 years with Rudolph as the QB3 veteran. They will know what they have in 2 to 3 years. 1 year isn't enough in my eyes, but MM may be able to tell.

It sucks Cam and Watt won't get SB rings, but they aren't getting there with Rodgers this year anyhow.

Probably having to do with Gaurenteed money.

Like I've been saying, he doesn't give a sh!t about this team, he doesn't give a sh!t about the young QB's, he doesn't give a sh!t that we were embarrassed at homes in the playoffs worse than another Steelers team ever. He's an egomaniac

I get it, I wouldn't come back either for less than whatever amount he thinks his health is worth, thus I rather he just goes to Arizona where they may pay him what he expects to be a starter.

For what he brought to the table, Rodgers was paid appropriately last year. Now a year older, the offer the Steelers laid out there is more than fair.

Completely different subject...these guys have done nothing but lay eggs in the playoffs.

F him, just tell him we don't want you.
I'm with you, AAron Rogers' needs to go! He is setting the wrong vibe for the team as a veteran player, who is supposed to be a leader. Show up when you want... wrong. You are 42 and not in your prime! Fade out!!

All this aside, with Mike McCarthy trying to set the tone as new head coach--especially replacing a very popular Mike Tomlin--does a guy like Rodgers help or hurt his cause? I never got the idea that McCarthy and Rodgers were buddies.

They also took the money knowing full well where that team was headed.

Money over championship's is totally acceptable many top tier players, these two inclusive.

Easy ride under the previous coaching staff.

I was under the guise of it being an Art 2 situation and MM was told to ride with it.

Speculation on my behalf, but a very real possibility as well.

Some were saying that the Agent is there negotiating, Hard to say.

I have a hard time seeing much negotiation needed to be done.???

Could be guaranteed starting / playing time is the stickler.

Money wouldn’t make sense unless a total low ball (less than 10 mil).

If there is a sticking point it would be money over playing time IMO. Maybe AA Ron wants more than 15 mil.

I still think it is mostly do I retire or not.

One more shroom while I contemplate.

We need a hedge fund to come and purchase the Steeler franchise. Maybe the same one who purchased the Dodgers & they just purchased the Lakers.
You mean like what happened to the Penguins, which immediately had the team not trade the players they needed to then wasted 4 years in limbo? Yeah not the cure all you think... most ownership changes are catastrophes...

Either the guy wants to play another season of football, or he doesn't. Rodgers probably has 9 figures earning interest and countless investments. I just don't understand why he would be quibbling over 5 or 10 million dollars at this point of his life.

I had no problem with the Rodgers situation last year. I was interested to see what he had left in the tank, and I thought his compensation was appropriate. This season, however, we know what he is, and we know what he isn't. And he clearly isn't worth 25 million a year.

From what I've heard, Rodgers and McCarthy didn't exactly have the best relationship, especially the end of McCarthy's tenure in Green Bay.

Ope, we going fishing????
Ya opened that can of worms 😂

Until proven different TJ and Cam are both perfectly Tomlinized players, they both have that ability to become invisible when the games matter.

They’ve both had amazing regular season careers.
No denying that.
They’ve both done nothing when it counts.
No denying that.

If the goal is to assemble a unit that consistently disappears and disappoints, then slow clap for you Mr. Rooney. You’ve created a masterpiece of mediocrity-meh, not even close to mid when it matters most.

All those MMs and the possibility of change with the turning of a page to a new old coach that can hopefully develop players and not disappear in the critical moments does have me a tad hopeful…so why ruin that with adding another disappointing dinosaur?

If Rogers doesn't want to play at this point, I am fine with it.

Again, I was thinking there was no way we were going into the season with Rudolf as our #1, so I really thought we would force a bad decision in the off-season if it WASN'T Rogers. But if that "bad decision" is only spending one our 3 third round picks on Drew Allar, then I can live with that.

I was always hoping Rogers would come in, not play well or get hurt, so we would lose this year anyhow.

That chance just goes up with Rudolf as our #1 and a try-and-see mentality with Howard/Allar as the wheels came off.

I'm telling you. If Rogers flakes out, our Project 2027 plan goes up exponentially.
